Mariah Carey & Boyfriend Bryan Tanaka Reportedly Split After 7 Years of Dating

This Christmas may not be the merriest for Mariah Carey. Recent reports are claiming that the superstar and her longtime boyfriend Bryan Tanaka have called it quits after seven years together. While neither have confirmed the split, Bryan, who also works with Mariah as her creative director, has been missing from her current holiday tour, and it looks like he won’t be joining Mariah and her kids on her annual holiday trip, either. So what happened to finally drive them apart?

A source close to the couple says they may want different things.

A source told Page Six that the reason for the couple’s breakup is specifically because Bryan wants kids, and Mariah's been there, done that.

"He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at," the source said.

The pair aren't in the same place in their lives.

"He wants to start having his own life," another source told the outlet.

Mariah, who is 54, has two children: 12-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan from her marriage to Nick Cannon. But Bryan, who is 40, doesn’t have any children of his own.

Bryan was absent from one of Mariah's yearly holiday traditions.

Speculation about the couple’s possible breakup began when Mariah was spotted on her annual holiday trip to Aspen, Colorado, without Bryan. A source confirmed to People that he wouldn’t be joining her in Aspen despite spending the holidays there with her every year since 2017 — a major red flag.

Bryan has also been noticeably absent from Mariah’s Merry Christmas One and All! Tour, which kicked off in mid-November.

All seemed to be well with the couple earlier this year.

The last time the pair were spotted together was in March to celebrate Mariah's birthday, which she refers to as her "anniversary." Bryan posted a picture of him and Mariah to commemorate the occasion on Instagram.

"This is one of my favorite pictures. Ever. Happy Anniversary my Beautiful Queen," he captioned the post.

The two have known each other for over a decade.

Mariah and Bryan first met in 2006 when he joined the singer’s Adventures of Mimi tour as a dancer. They worked together for 10 years before their working relationship became romantic in 2016. The couple briefly broke up in 2017 before reuniting, but now, they may have finally hit the true end of the road.
