A couple in Philadelphia decided to have a little late night romp in their car recently, and they had no idea that their car would then end up in the river. While having sex in your car by the river may seem romantic and isolated, if you're not careful, it can have dangerous consequences. Sometimes what seems like a good idea ends in a way you couldn't have anticipated.
It seems that this incident was purely a case of getting a little too excited and not paying attention. The couple is safe, even though their car is likely going to need a lot of work. Maybe next time, they'll have their fun outside instead!

The car was found in the early morning.
Around 4:27 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, a Range Rover was spotted in the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park, which is in Philadelphia, according to NBC affiliate NBC10 Philadelphia. Police and dive crews were on the scene, and in the early morning, rowers could be seen around where the car had gone into the water.
Authorities have a good idea of how the car ended up in the water.
Police officers spoke with multiple news outlets about the incident, sharing that the couple inside had been engaging in some romantic activities. The police told NBC10 Philadelphia that the couple had been "getting busy," while a spokesperson from the Philadelphia Police Department's Public Affairs Office told CBS News Philadelphia they were "enjoying each other's company," which caused the car to move.
The car had been parked before it ended up in the water.
News reports state that even though the car had been parked along the roadway near the river, one of the people in the car had unknowingly hit something in the car, causing it to go from parked to in-gear.

The people managed to get themselves to safety.
Police haven't released any information on the couple, except to say that they were able to get themselves out of the car before it went into the river. Neither were taken to the hospital or treated for any possible injuries.
The attempts to pull the car from the water didn't start until around 8:30 a.m. By 9 a.m., cameras from the CBS News Philadelphia helicopter captured the car being pulled from the water.
Cars keep ending up in the water in Philadelphia.
According to the news reports, this car isn't the first to fall in the Schuylkill River at a similar spot. On August 16, a car went into the water around "Kelly Drive near the Girard Avenue Bridge." When the car was eventually pulled from the water, no one was found inside.
