I think it’s safe to say that humans as a species love chickens. We love the way the bird itself tastes. We have a fondness for eating their eggs. Roosters serve a function in waking us up in the morning. Plenty of cultures even use the bird for entertainment purposes (though many people consider it cruel). For better or worse, chickens are enmeshed in our lives.
One woman shared how deep the bond goes by telling the internet about the time she was stopped by police for letting her chicken ride shotgun on a road trip.

Police pulled her over because they noticed a car seat in the front seat.
Brooke, who goes by @bigmommatex on TikTok, sat in her car to tell a hilarious and unforgettable story about being pulled over by police.
“The cops pulled me over talking about, ‘I notice you had a car seat in the passenger. I was double checking to make sure it wasn’t an infant,” she says in the clip. Then, Brooke leans into the camera in disbelief and continues, “An infant?! How dare you disrespect Hilary Fluff like that?”

She explained the situation.
“She is my emotional support chicken!” Brooke explained. “We are on a road trip and she was in the middle of eating her Funyuns.”
What makes the video even funnier is the fact that there is an actual child in the back seat. The little one watches quietly, likely used to the mother’s shenanigans.

Chickens actually aren’t the worst companion you could choose, according to an article by veterinarian Laurie Hess, and they can live up to 15 years.
One hiccup, however, is that backyard chickens are not legal everywhere. There’s also the chance they might fly the coop. But otherwise, an emotional support chicken could be a thing. No word on the need for car seats though.
Brooke has another chicken with a clever name as well.
The people of TikTok were truly entertained by the telling of this tale.
“Bro the way she is strapped into her seat was not expected,” one person commented.
Others were particularly pleased with the name. Brooke shared that there’s more where that came from. “I have a Dwayne ✨the c—✨ Johnson too ,” she wrote in the comments.
