Bride Shot & Killed, 13-Year-Old Injured Outside Wedding Venue in Apparent Drug-Related Ambush

Just hours after their wedding, a gunman shot and killed a bride as she and her new husband left the celebration. The horrific killing took place in the village of Goult in southern France. In addition to the fallen bride, the groom, a 13-year-old boy, and another woman were injured. Sadly, it appears the shooting may have been related to illegal drug activity. Now, police want answers.

According to CBS News, the attackers arrived at the venue by car and ambushed the couple and guests as they exited the venue around 4:30 a.m. June 22, 2025. The attackers, who allegedly had several weapons, opened fire and ran away. The Sun reported that the couple’s car crushed one of the attackers. Although authorities did not release the identities of the victims, a witness reportedly told The Sun that the injured 13-year-old was the couple’s child.

Police arrested two suspects but have not released any information, CBS News reported.

“I’m angry. I’m outraged,” Goult Mayor Didier Perello told the media.

He declined to comment on rumors the shooting had ties to drug retaliation, but Perello said he is open to all leads and information.

“I’m ruling nothing out. Absolutely nothing,” he said, per CBS News. “We’re close to towns, I won’t name them, where, unfortunately, we’ve already seen this kind of thing before.”

Per the mayor, the couple secured the facility in March but does not live in the area.

“The village hall had been rented for a wedding by people who don’t live in the commune,” he said.

Restaurant owner Guillaume Molinas, 50, told CBS news he worries the tragic shooting would “give the village a bad name,” even though it is generally safe there.

“The last major incident in the village was 125 years ago,” he shared.
