Revenge is a very real desire. When you feel like you’ve been wronged, sometimes the only way you will feel better is through reprisal. But sometimes, people take that too far. A group of fifth grade girls in Arizona learned that the hard way. The group allegedly came up with a plan to murder a male classmate for revenge. They went so far as to come up with a whole plan, including a plot to make the killing look like a suicide. But the girls’ plan was thwarted when they weren’t careful about where they talked about it, police say.
AZ Family (KPHO) exclusively reported on a recently released police report from the Surprise Police Department in Surprise, Arizona. A group of four 10- and 11-year-old girls at Legacy Traditional School’s West Surprise campus came up with a plot to murder a male classmate, the report said.
According to police, the plan came together during lunch and recess on October 1, 2024. The fifth grade girls wanted to “just end him” after a recent break-up that included cheating allegations. They planned to lure the boy into an outside bathroom, then they were going to stab him in the stomach.
Every girl in the group had a role in the plan. One girl was going to bring a knife to school while another was going to forge a suicide note. And the third was going to be the lookout when the fourth carried out the stabbing. They even knew to wear gloves while handling the knife to avoid fingerprints.
Their plan was thwarted when other students overheard them talking and let an adult know. School administrators worked closely with the school’s resource officer to investigate. The following day, the girls had their backpacks searched, and they were questioned individually with their parents present.
Three of the girls showed remorse about their actions, the police report stated. However, the fourth girl would smile and laugh while making excuses for what they had done. All four of the girls were arrested on charges of threatening and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Surprise Police Department “has not shared and does not plan to share any further details about this incident,” KPHO reported. According to the police report, the fifth grade girls were all released to their parents. They had been suspended from Legacy Traditional School, and expulsion was pending at the time of the arrests.
