A Massachusetts family is holding onto hope that Kylee Monteiro, a teen who recently went missing, will be found safely. Monteiro, who is pregnant, went missing in early August of 2025 after allegedly fighting with her boyfriend. Before she went missing, she reached out to her family but rebuffed their pleas to let them help her. Now, all they can do is wait while police continue to search, and to speak out in the hopes that she will come back.
Kylee Monteiro was last seen on August 7 near Country Street in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, WCVB reported. According to police, the 18-year-old, who recently graduated from high school, is 6 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red T-shirt with the phrase “Get Over It” printed on the front and ripped jeans. She may also be carrying a white bag with her belongings inside.
Her family says she got into an argument with her boyfriend and feared for her safety. “That’s the last contact that she’s made with anyone was Thursday through text message,” her sister Faith Monteiro told WCVB. “The last known time when we heard her voice was Wednesday night.”
A friend of the girl also spoke with her shortly before her disappearance. “She was like ‘I don’t feel safe right now something’s not right.’ I tried talking with her after that, and she just stopped responding to me after that,” the friend said. “I just want her to know that like, we miss you, and we’re not going to stop trying to find you.”
Faith Monteiro also spoke with ABC News, saying her little sister, who is 11 weeks pregnant, had been living at a homeless shelter for pregnant women in Pembroke, Massachusetts, for a few weeks. She said Kylee and her boyfriend were “on and off,” and there had been “domestic issues” in the relationship. The night before Kylee disappeared, there was allegedly an altercation between them.
“She was desperate for help. She was calling out to friends, family, anyone she could, telling them that she was in danger. The whole situation is very scary,” Faith Monteiro said. She claimed to have offered to pick up her sister, but the teen declined.
According to the older sister, Kylee Monteiro wouldn’t ask a stranger for a ride. She also “doesn’t know how to survive on her own.”
On August 15, the Rehoboth Police Department told WJAR that it wasn’t classifying the search for Kylee as an investigation. Instead, authorities are calling it an “open, fluid incident.” While they wouldn’t confirm to the news outlet that they were still looking for the teen, her sister did via text message.
“The police are still working day and night to locate Kylee. Our family still has hope she is out there. They aren’t giving up yet, and neither are we,” she shared.
