Two adults have been arrested after six young children were found in a storage unit in Wisconsin. Currently, the Milwaukee Police Department has not revealed very many details about exactly what happened. It is unknown how long ago the kids were brought to the storage unit, but people have spoken about how unbelievable it is that no one noticed. Details will likely continue to emerge as police continue investigating.
Milwaukee police responded to a call that children were found locked in a storage unit at StorSafe around 1:30 a.m. September 16, 2025, TMJ4 reported. When they arrived, they found a 2-month-old, along with children 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 years old.
According to police, the children weren’t physically harmed. If authorities have additional details about how long the children were locked up, they have not yet released them. But it begs the question, what were they doing there in the first place?
Police have taken a 26-year-old female and a 33-year-old male into custody in connection with the case, NBC News reported. They’re calling this an “abuse/neglect incident.” Currently, the relationships between the adults and the children are unknown, as are the relationships between the children.
The Milwaukee Police Department has not released the names of the people detained. In an email to NBC News, the department explained that it won’t provide that information until charges have been formally filed, which hasn’t happened yet.
A neighbor spoke with TMJ4, saying she’d seen a family with children walking around the storage unit over the summer. The neighbor added that she’d see them both in the morning and at night.
A patron of the business provided his thoughts about the situation. “I’m shocked, I’m confused, I’m like, you don’t see kids in here ever. So how is that possible?” said Donnie Earl, who rents a unit at StorSafe, per TMJ4. “The whole time I’ve been here I have never seen any kids.”
Another unit renter named Mac expressed similar sentiments. “That’s horrible, you know, where are the parents?” he asked.
“I’m confused. I don’t even know how to respond to it,” a local man said to ABC News affiliate WISN. “To me, this sounds like a cry for help, maybe they just needed help and didn’t know how to get it.”
No timeline exists thus far for when charges are expected to be brought against the two adults. There’s no word on who currently has custody of the children, either.
