Members of the “not all men” crowd really have some sort of over-confidence I’ll never understand. Although I agree not all men are horrific, it sure seems to be the dominant gender when it comes to committing atrocities in domestic situations. So many cases of domestic violence are committed daily it’s mind-blowing.
A recent survey in Australia actually stated that 1 in 3 men reports using emotional abuse toward a partner, while 1 in 10 admit to physical violence.
A British mom is, sadly, a recent victim of this persistent epidemic. The Daily Mail reported that June Bunyan, 37, had recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming a defense attorney. She was found dead in her home with “multiple traumatic neck injuries,” on September 11, 2025. The prime suspect in her murder is her husband, Jonathan Renteria, 25, who was seen leaving with their baby in the middle of the night the day after she was last seen alive.
The Mirror reported that she had been married to Renteria for a year, and they shared a 2-month-old baby. Prosecutors accuse him of dropping off the child at his parents’ home before returning to dismember Bunyan’s body. According to the Daily Record, Renteria was later found in a hotel room with a bleeding forearm wound and a note that reportedly contained a confession to killing his wife.
Prosecutors allege the argument that sparked the violent act was over Bunyan “failing to lose weight following her pregnancy.” She had reportedly started packing to move out and told him he’d never see his daughter again, per the Daily Mail.
Arielle Miller, Bunyan’s neighbor, told KABC that Bunyan had confided in her about the abuse. She allegedly always feared he would kill her.
“He didn’t want her to talk to certain people. He was verbally abusive,” Miller said. “Something in particular he would always comment on was her body and her weight.”
“The way that she died, the suffering she must’ve experienced, the fear, the violence, the pain — all of that — it’s the stuff that keeps me up at night,” Miller added to the news outlet.
Renteria is scheduled to appear in court this November for a preliminary hearing and is reportedly pleading not guilty.
