All of Donald Trump‘s kids are nepo babies in some way. When your father is a billionaire, business owner, and a two-time president, it sort of comes with the territory. But now, according to Forbes, youngest child Barron Trump is set to surpass his mom Melania Trump’s fortune thanks to investments. As the son of a businessman, no matter how many times Trump may have failed over the years, it’s not entirely surprising.
But at just 19, Barron’s fortune is impressive. Technically, he doesn’t even need to continue his college education, especially since he would likely be welcomed into the fold of any of his father’s businesses. But hey, we aren’t here to judge the habits and aspirations (or even lack thereof) of nepo babies in the world.
Barron Trump is already rolling in the dough thanks to his apparent investments.
Forbes reported that, at 19, Barron has a net worth of $150 million thanks to his decision to sell some cryptocurrency. In fact, his remaining cryptocurrency tokens could add $525 million to that number. It’s a pretty impressive fortune for a kid who is still in college, especially since it means Barron has more money than Melania does on her own.
Melania is reportedly worth about $20 million on her own. I know, that’s impressive enough, but when you compare it to Trump’s net worth of $7.3 billion and Barron’s fortune, it’s not that big of a deal. Of course, Trump’s earnings may be tied up with Melania’s, but her worth on her own, through her own business endeavors, is considerably less than her son’s.
Despite Barron’s investments and fortune being pretty high for someone who isn’t even legally allowed to drink alcohol, it’s possible that he doesn’t actually see any of it just yet. According to Marca, a lot of the money that belongs to Barron is in a trust fund set up by his father. He might not have full access for years, or at least until after he graduates college.
Per USA Today, Barron originally enrolled in New York University’s Stern School of Business. He later transferred to a campus closer to the White House. It seems like his plans may be to follow in his father’s footsteps in business, though to be fair, it also seems like a safe major to see him through his education. Can you imagine Barron switching things up for a Bachelor of Arts in literally any subject? Yeah, me either.
There were rumors that Barron applied to and got rejected from Harvard, but Nick Clemens, spokesperson for the Office of the First Lady, cleared things up in a statement to E! News.
“Barron did not apply to Harvard,” he said. “Any assertion that he, or that anyone on his behalf, applied is completely false.”
