A mother from Nashville is facing charges after allegedly throwing her toddler. Salondria Lado was arrested after sending her child’s grandmother a video in which she reportedly smacked and yelled at her toddler. Action was taken quickly to ensure that the toddler would be protected, and the child was treated at the hospital for injuries received in the incident. Now Lado, who admitted that she lost her temper, is being held in police custody.
According to the police report, authorities were alerted by the grandmother of the 14-month-old after the 19-year-old mother sent a video in which she could be seen slapping and throwing the toddler, WZTV reported. Lado also allegedly sent messages to the child’s father threatening both the child’s life and her own, WTVF reported.
Nashville Metro Police showed up at Lado’s apartment, but she refused to open the door. Out of concern for the child’s safety, police entered the apartment. When they got inside, the young woman was locked in the bathroom with the toddler, per WZTV. The little girl had a scratch on her cheek and nose.
Lado admitted to smacking the little one “on the hand to discipline her” when she soiled herself, but the video showed something much worse. Detectives had seen the video, in which Lado repeatedly slapped the girl in the stomach and legs. She was also heard yelling profanities at the toddler, WTVF reported.

After hitting the girl about nine times, Lado grabbed her by her arm near her shoulder and threw her across the Pack n’ Play. The toddler could be heard crying the entire time.
When police confronted Lado with the video of her abusing her daughter, she told them there were more. She claimed she simply “spazzed out.”
Lado’s daughter was taken to Vanderbilt Pediatric Hospital. Doctors found a hemorrhage in her eye as well as a skull fracture. No details have been given about who has custody of the child after Lado’s arrest.
Lado was charged with felonious aggravated child abuse, according to records from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. She is being held on a $75,000 bond at the Downtown Detention Center.
