A Florida man is facing charges after allegedly taking pictures of a child in a public bathroom. Qyran Ackerman was caught quickly by police after the boy told his mom what happened. Thankfully, the boy knew the interaction seemed off and wasn’t afraid to speak up about what happened to him. But what police didn’t know and were soon to find out, is that this wasn’t the first time. Ackerman reportedly seemed to have a thing for taking pictures of people in bathrooms and had a record.
The incident allegedly took place in April 2025, WCTV reported. Police came to a Tallahassee business after a man, who was later identified as Ackerman, was reportedly taking pictures of exposed children in the bathroom. Officers spoke with a security guard, who had been told by a mom that a man took a photo in the bathroom.
The security guard told police he found Ackerman outside and tried to stop him. But the man said, unprompted, that he didn’t take any pictures of a boy, according to the arrest paperwork. Then he ran.
The boy’s mom spoke with police, telling them a man approached her son in the bathroom and told him to enter the stall next to him, according to WCTV. When the boy did so and pulled his pants down, that’s when the man allegedly began taking photos. Her son ran back to his mom and “appeared startled,” she told police. The boy still had his pants unbuttoned.
Staff at the business recognized the man as someone who frequented its arcade.

When police spoke to Ackerman, he told them he had been dropped off at the business and went inside to use the bathroom before he caught a bus, per WCTV. But police got access to his phone, and a search reportedly turned up images of adults and children while using the bathroom.
Ackerman had previously been found guilty of digital voyeurism in Brevard County, and he is on felony probation. In regard to this incident, he’s been charged with five counts of digital voyeurism, attempted digital voyeurism, and probation violation, the outlet noted.
In June 2022, then 21-year-old Ackerman was arrested and charged with eight charges of video voyeurism, WESH reported at the time. He had been caught taking videos of people in the bathroom of the Walmart where he worked.
According to the arrest affidavit from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Special Victim’s Unit, Ackerman was reportedly caught taking a video over a stall wall while someone was using a urinal on April 30, 2022. The victim reached out to police, who obtained surveillance video of Ackerman leaving the bathroom.
After gaining access to his phone, police found videos of the victim and others in the “recently deleted” folder on it, WESH reported. The eight counts were in regard to people 19 years or older, but police also found videos of minors.
When the charges were filed against him, he was fired from his job at Walmart. It is unknown where he might be working now.
