Paralyzed & Mentally Ill Lindsay Clancy Will Go To Trial in Home County More Than 3 Years After Children’s Deaths

It’s been almost three years since we learned the name Lindsay Clancy. In January 2023, the then 32-year-old mother of three allegedly killed her children and then attempted suicide by jumping from a second-floor window. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, left to pick up dinner for the family and run errands. He never imagined the horror that awaited him at his Duxbury, Massachusetts, home when he returned. As Lindsay Clancy’s day in court approaches, her attorney, Kevin Reddington, wants a fair trial and is doing everything in his power to achieve that.

According to the Daily Mail, the defense sought to move the trial from Plymouth County to Boston, but Superior Court Judge William Sullivan denied the motion. The defense fears the case received too much media attention in the Clancy family’s home county and that it will be difficult to gather an unbiased jury. In a separate motion, Sullivan agreed to reschedule the trial from February to July 2026.

Reddington intends to pursue an insanity defense for Lindsay Clancy. Many speculate that she suffered from postpartum psychosis, leading to the horrific deaths of her children. She allegedly strangled Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan with an exercise band.

“This is not a situation that was planned by any means,” Reddington has said. “This was a situation that was clearly the product of mental illness.”

Following the children’s deaths, Patrick Clancy released a lengthy statement about his family on GoFundMe.

“She’s recently been portrayed largely by people who have never met her and never knew who the real Lindsay was. Our marriage was wonderful and diametrically grew stronger as her condition rapidly worsened. I took as much pride in being her husband as I did in being a father and felt persistently lucky to have her in my life,” he wrote. “I still remember the very moment I first laid eyes on her and can recall how overcome I was with the kind of love at first sight you only see in movies.”

He graciously asked the public to extend grace and forgiveness to his now ex-wife. It’s a move that many respected and didn’t know if they could make themselves.

“I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have. The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone – me, our kids, family, friends, and her patients,” he added. “The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace.”

What a strong person he is. It’s hard to imagine having that kind of compassion after such a horrific time in your life. Patrick Clancy reacted much better than most would.

Lindsay Clancy currently uses a wheelchair because of injuries sustained in her fall. She resides at Tewksbury State Hospital. She has pleaded not guilty.
