Jennifer Lawrence Knew What She Was Doing When She Told Leonardo DiCaprio He Should Have a Teen Daughter

One of the crowning achievements of Variety, at least in my opinion, is the Variety Studios: Actors on Actors segments. These include actors interviewing each other, and clips often go viral on social media. Like one on TikTok of Jennifer Lawrence interviewing Leonardo DiCaprio. Because of their respective late 2025 movies, they have reason to interview each other, and that’s all well and good.

However, the moment in the interview that has people really gassed up is when Jennifer tells Leonardo, her former co-star in the 2021 movie Don’t Look Up, that she could see him having a teenage daughter. He plays a single dad to a teen girl in the 2025 movie One Battle After Another. Because of that, Jennifer apparently sees so much girl dad energy in him. But, according to many, she knew how cheeky that comment is, especially given Leonardo’s proclivity for dating younger women.

People say Jennifer Lawrence is “chronically online.”

In the interview clip, Jennifer tells Leonardo, “I really loved seeing you be a dad. Like, I’m so sad that you don’t have a teenage daughter. You look great with one.” As she says this, Leonardo himself smiles and looks like he knows the underlying meaning just like the rest of us. Maybe that’s a good sign that he can be in on the joke. I mean, we love a self-aware king, right? Well, maybe not necessarily.

Either way, someone commented on the clip on TikTok to say that Jennifer’s line in the interview was clearly meant to be a funny dig at his penchant for dating younger women, which is discussed and poked fun at more often than not on social media.

“Jennifer is chronically online,” they wrote. “She knows what she’s doing.”

Another user commented, “I’ve never seen such a graceful and ruthless drag.”

That’s usually the nature of Jennifer’s reads when it comes to other actors. The subtle really is key. And when it comes to Leonardo, she couldn’t not make a small dig at his dating life, which he has become pretty well known for outside of his acting career.

“if she meant what i think she meant she’s an actual icon lmao,” someone else wrote under the TikTok.

Leonardo DiCaprio is known for dating much younger women.

According to the New York Post, Leonardo was still dating 27-year-old model Vittoria Ceretti as of October 2025. Leonardo is 50, just to give you some perspective. So, while the relationship is entirely legal in that sense, he is more than 20 years older than his girlfriend. Then again, that’s nothing new for the Oscar-winning actor.

Per Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Leonardo dated model/actress Camila Morrone when she was 20 and he was 42. He also publicly dated Sports Illustrated model Bar Refaeli when she was 20 and he was around 31. Leonardo also reportedly dated Gisele Bündchen when she was 18 and he was 24, though that age difference isn’t as wild as the ones later in his life. But Jennifer’s comment about him “looking good” with a teenage daughter is clearly a joke that pokes fun at his dating history. Here’s your crown, Jennifer. You dropped this.
