What to Know
In the thick of the infant months, it feels like your baby’s sleep is all you think about — wake windows, nap times, their routine. it never ends! And sometimes, your baby will chose a preferred parent to put them down for a nap or for bed, and if it’s not that person… well, good luck to the other parent.
A situation like that unfolded for one dad recently, but he knew how to think on his feet. He sent his wife a hilarious SOS on the baby monitor that turned into a viral video, and this is what it looks like to work smarter, not harder.
Dad needed a little extra help at nap time.

On the TikTok video, the mom wrote, “When it’s your husband’s turn to put the baby down for a nap and this is what you see.”
We can see the screen of the baby monitor, which shows the baby in her crib… but in front of her is Dad’s hand, holding out his phone. On the screen, he’s drawn the letters “SOS,” silently letting his wife know that he could use a little backup.
We’ve gotta hand it to him — this was very clever.
Poor mom was just trying to enjoy her Friday.
From the other hints in the video (and the caption) we know that Mom was trying to enjoy a nice, peaceful cider with some sushi near the Christmas tree on a Friday night, but clearly, her baby had other plans.
Sometimes, no matter how hard Dad tries, nobody but Mom will do. We’ve all been there before!
And fortunately, it sounds like she kept a good sense of humor about the whole situation. We can even hear her laughing in the background!
So many fellow parents shared that they could relate.
And speaking of how we’ve all been there, the comments on the post serve as proof that this is an experience most moms can relate to.
“One time my husband said, ‘I know you’re watching just come save us,'” one mom wrote.
Another wrote, “When my husband walks in, my daughter literally shakes her head no and says ‘mama’ until he gives up (2 minutes later).”
That’s just the way it goes sometimes. Better luck next time, Dad. But at least he knows how to ask for help when he needs it?
