Dog Walker Unexpectedly Stumbles Upon Prince William While He Was Filming a Video

Considering the kind of security that’s surrounding members of the royal family on a daily basis, it seems like it might be impossible to casually run into them while going about your business — but apparently, it’s something that actually happens. Or at least, it did to one dog walker who ended up with a completely unexpected (but very cool) story to tell.

While the dog walker was out in a park, she ran into Prince William, and knowing what a big fan of pups he has always been, it’s no wonder they ended up having a pretty adorable interaction.

The moment was captured on camera.

Since William happened to be filming a video for an organization called Fields in Trust with football (or, in America, soccer) star Jill Scott at the time, the encounter was caught on camera — how lucky is that?

In the video, which was shared by charity, we can see the dog (a very adorable golden retriever) running up to William as if he was any other dude — though, to the dog, he probably was. Do animals recognize royalty?

“A local dogwalker got a surprise when she stumbled upon our Patron and President, The Prince of Wales and legendary England footballer Jill Scott MBE, filming in a Windlesham park!” Fields in Trust wrote in an Instagram post.

The dog walker had the best reaction to the surprise run-in.

At first, the dog walker seemed fully focused on getting to her dog, but then, she realized that the person her dog was approaching was actually the future king of England and said, “oh my God!”

That’s probably what anyone would have said in that situation — maybe even with more colorful language. Considering the circumstances, she actually played it pretty cool.

After she apologized, Jill can be heard saying, “It’s okay, don’t worry” to the woman. Meanwhile, William barely looked fazed, but as someone who’s always had dogs of his own at home, it’s no surprised that he was at ease around the pup.

William was in the process of filming a video for Fields in Trust.

As a patron of the organization (and nature enthusiast in general), William was at Windlesham Park in the process of filming a video about protecting green spaces when his video shoot was interrupted.

Since he loves the great outdoors and dogs so much, it sounds like it turned out to be a pretty perfect day for him!
