A Tennessee mother found herself in big trouble after taking her young daughter to work with her in early 2024. At the time, licensed esthetician Jasmine Moss owned Jazzy Body and performed waxing services on clients in Memphis. On February 15, 2024, Moss took her 5-year-old daughter, Khloe, with her to work and allegedly allowed the young child to perform Brazilian waxing services on multiple clients. Moss posted photos online, and soon the Memphis Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating. Prosecutors charged Moss with one count of child abuse and one count of child neglect. Her attorney hopes a judge will throw out the case.
According to WMC-TV, Moss reportedly shared a since-deleted social media post bragging about Khloe’s success.
“She literally helped me wax 24 clients starting from 7:25-5 pm. She made a total of $744, and I’m going to put the money toward whatever her future dreams and aspirations are,” she reportedly wrote.
The post immediately drew ire from residents in the community, who felt Moss’ daughter was far too young to be involved in Brazilian wax services. Not to mention, she’s unlicensed.
“In Tennessee, you have to be at least 16 years old to actually get hours to obtain a license to become an esthetician,” a licensed esthetician told WMC-TV following Moss’ arrest.
Blake Ballin, Moss’ attorney, recently appeared with her in court. He told WREG he hopes to convince the judge to throw out the case.
“Hopefully, I can push them to drop this,” Ballin said. “It’s an unusual case. It’s a little complicated because there’s a DCS investigation, and there are some licensing issues with Moss with the cosmetology board. So, we need some time to investigate that.”
Ballin believes his client made a mistake and deserves another chance. “Certainly, some questionable parenting, but does that amount to a crime? Our position is that it does not. DCS investigated this, and the child is still in Ms. Moss’s custody,” he said, per WREG.
From the looks of her social media, Moss doesn’t appear fazed by the court case.
She recently shared a news story featuring her mugshot, with an interesting caption. “Okay I was cute on this,” she wrote in her post.
Moss has plenty of supporters in her comment section, cheering her on. “Baby she teaching her daughter entrepreneurship early i love it,” someone wrote.
“What’s wrong with teaching your child how to make money early?” another person agreed.
This person wanted to see if she could book Moss for a service: “Omg are you still open,” the person asked. “i always talk about you and how good your work is hope everything is well.”
“never closed boo,” Moss responded.
We agree that teaching your children the importance of a strong work ethic when they’re young is super important. But maybe having them apply hot wax to a naked woman’s genital area isn’t the best way to do it. Whatever happened to those toy cash registers and playing pretend? Seems like that’s a better place to start. Moss is due back in court on July 16, 2026.
