What to Know
As the dust settles following Keith Urban‘s divorce from Nicole Kidman, it sounds like he’s not very happy with the way his new normal looks. A source told the National Enquirer that Keith is having a hard time coming to terms with the custody agreement involving daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, and how little it means he gets to see them now that he and their mom are no longer together.
Keith only has custody of the girls 59 days a year.
Since Keith’s job as a country star has him constantly traveling all over the world, his daughters are “used to long stretches away from him,” but now, it seems like they’re seeing their dad less than ever. According to the outlet, with the way the custody agreement shook out, Keith is with his daughters 59 days a year (mostly weekends) while Nicole has them 306 days of the year as the primary residential parent.
A source close to Keith said that this has been a tough pill for him to swallow. “As it is, [Keith] had to concede the majority of custody time to Nicole,” they said. “He only has them every other weekend, but when he’s touring, even that doesn’t work.”
Right now, he’s focused on making the best of the time he does get with his daughters.
The next time they have a school break, Keith is supposedly hoping to take them away on a vacation — likely the Bahamas, since that’s one of the family’s favorite spots. Reportedly, Nicole is invited to join them, but it doesn’t seem like she’s going to take Keith up on that offer. It would be a bit awkward!
In the meantime, Keith is fully focused on Sunday and Faith. “He knows he has some things to explain to them and he wants to make sure they know he’s just as devoted to them as he’s always been,” the source added.
Reportedly, Sunday and Faith aren’t all that happy with their dad right now.
For as much as Keith wants to bond with his girls during this time, it may not be so easy. A source told the Globe in another story published this week that their daughters are firmly taking their mom’s side in their parents’ split.
“The word is that they consider him an insensitive dog and they’re giving him a wide berth and are firmly supporting their mom instead,” the source said, adding, “It’s a harsh pill for Keith to swallow, but if he’s gotten serious with someone else, then it’s perfectly understandable why he’s quickly turned into persona non grata with the kids.”
