What to Know
And just like that, it’s feeling like 2005 again. When Carrie Underwood returned to American Idol to replace Katy Perry as a judge in 2025, a lot of longtime country music fans were happy that she was returning to her roots where the world first fell in love with her distinct voice. A bit of a controversial celebrity in recent years due chatter about her possible political affiliations, Carrie took to social media to let her fans know that she hasn’t been met with the most positive reception during “Hollywood Week” on the hit singing competition TV show.
Carrie Underwood posts about the kind of reception she met while performing her judging duties on ‘American Idol’.
You have to appreciate a celebrity who is going to be honest in those awkward moments that are bound to come up. American Idol judge, Carrie Underwood, took to X to share something that perhaps not a lot of others in her situation would care to discuss.
The country singer wrote: “Spoiler alert… I get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience.” She then shared an embarrassed face emoji and tagged the singing competition show’s account on X.
Okay, that’s interesting, to put things mildly. You can’t help but wonder why she received the boos and what the general public (or social media) thinks of this kind of negative reception.
There’s a huge amount of people commenting that they are not at all surprised about the boos Carrie received.
With over 2,000 replies under her post on X, Carrie was not met with the amount of shock and disapproval that she maybe would have hoped for. One commenter kept things very simple and straightforward by stating: “And it’s still not loud enough.” Ouch.
Another person commented that, “Maybe – hear me out because I know this is wild – you should take the hint.”
To really crack things open as to why she’s receiving this kind of response from the American Idol audience, another person commented in the thread that “it’s because of you supporting an awful human as president, in case you were wondering why.” Bingo! Now, we’re getting somewhere.
Is this all likely tied to the singer taking part in Trump’s inauguration in 2025?
If you’re looking for someone who is super transparent about their feelings towards Carrie Underwood, another reply on X to her recent post stated, “I’ve been booing you since the inauguration.” This individual is crystal clear about where they stand.
The country music star performed “America the Beautiful” at Trump’s inauguration in January, 2025, and has been met with backlash ever since.
She made her political stance fairly clear when she stated that she “[loves] our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” per PBS.
Whether you love your country or not, there is going to be a large group of people who are inevitably disappointed in you when you show your very public support for someone so controversial. And they might just bring the boos to your job!
