What to Know
Now that JoJo Siwa‘s brother, Jayden Siwa, is officially a married man, people have a few opinions about his sister’s wedding attire. After Jayden tied the knot, JoJo shared photos from the wedding on Instagram, and now that fans have had the chance to see what she wore to the shindig, they’re convinced that the Dance Moms alum was dressed totally inappropriately, especially if she was following the age old rule of not upstaging the bride.
Jayden got married at the end of February.
As E! Online reported, Jayden married longtime girlfriend Abbie Crandall in California on February 28, surrounded by friends and family, including his sister.
JoJo didn’t post much from the wedding on social media while it was still going on — there’s no doubt she just wanted to soak up this special time with her family — but now that she’s finally showing photos from the day, fans are sending a lot of side-eye her way.
JoJo is being accused of trying to upstage the bride.
JoJo shared photos on Instagram taken during the wedding and the week that led up to it (including a trip to Disneyland that appeared to be for the bride and groom’s loved ones), but it’s the dress she wore to the actual nuptials that people can’t handle. For the wedding, she wore a long gown covered in sequins, turning her into a disco ball for the night.
Since the dress was so eye-catching, some of JoJo’s followers were convinced it was the wrong choice for a wedding where she’s not the one walking down the aisle.
“You’re not supposed to outshine the bride,” one commenter wrote. “It’s not about you on their day.”
Others thought the photos in general were a bit weird, with one writing, “This is so bizarre. A congrats post for a couple, but it’s mostly pics of you? With the groom?”
Other comments included, “A whole post and I still can’t tell who got married here,” “Wait i think i missed a chapter,” “Happy wedding day to my brother & his wife, enjoy all these pictures of me,” and “Dressing as a disco ball to your brothers wedding is definitely something.”
To be fair, the groom is her brother — and since she and boyfriend Chris Hughes were both in the wedding party, there’s a very good chance that her dress was approved by the bride ahead of time.
It was an all-star event — for Dance Moms fans, anyway.
JoJo’s famous Dance Moms coach, Abby Lee Miller, was also in attendance at the wedding, which she joked she was crashing in a video that she shared on Instagram.
In the footage, we can see how happy JoJo is to see Abby Lee there, and at one point, she was even riding on the back of her motorized wheelchair.
All in all, it looks like a fabulous night — and JoJo did look good in that disco ball dress.
