Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans has always had a rocky relationship with mom Barbara Evans, who spent the last several years raising Jenelle’s 16-year-old son, Jace, while Jenelle didn’t have custody of the little boy. But now, the family drama between the Evans has escalated significantly, and if the new reports are true, it’s hard to imagine how they will come back together again.
Jace allegedly pulled out a gun during a confrontation with Barbara.
TMZ was the first to report that Jace allegedly put a gun to his head at Barbara’s house on February 22 and threatened to pull the trigger, with a source telling the outlet that drugs and alcohol may have been involved. Law enforcement then dispatched seven officers to Barbara’s home after they were alerted to a “troubled teen disturbance.”
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, who reviewed the 911 call Barbara placed that day, she told the dispatcher, “My grandson is on probation and he’s destroying my house.” While she did claim that Jace threatened to shoot himself, reportedly no gun was found when police searched Barbara’s property.
Police were only at Barbara’s residence for about 15 minutes before Jace was transported to a hospital.
He is now reportedly living in a mental health facility.
Jenelle’s rep confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Jace has checked into a mental health facility, though Jenelle is “still trying to find him the best [facility] to meet his needs” in the long term.
The rep also added that Jenelle still lives in Las Vegas with her younger kids, Kaiser and Ensley, but with Jace getting help in North Carolina, it sounds like she may be making visits back home more frequently than she might have expected.
Jace recently found out that Jenelle is back together with her ex, David Eason.
Earlier this week, The Ashley also reported that the trigger for Jace’s episode might have been finding out that Jenelle is back together with ex-husband David Eason, who was accused of child abuse in a case involving Jace in 2023.
“When Jace found out from reading it online that his mom was back with David, he flipped out,” a source close to the situation told the site. “Jenelle didn’t even tell him herself, he had to read it on the Internet.”
The insider continued, “Jace was very upset, and Barbara called Jenelle about it and told her. That’s when cops were called and Jace was taken to a local hospital.”
As far as Jenelle is concerned, she’s hoping that Jace will spend a long time in the facility. The source added, “She wants Jace to be institutionalized. She is also, as an alternative if long-term commitment can’t happen, trying to get the court to allow her male friend in North Carolina to get Jace. It makes absolutely no sense.”
And apparently, the feeling is mutual, since “Jace doesn’t want anything to do with Jenelle now either.”
Hopefully Jace is doing okay — this seems like a lot for anyone, especially a kid, to handle.
