12-Year-Old Homeschooled Girl Mysteriously Found Dead in Her Bed, Prompting Full Police Investigation

A Connecticut family is facing a horrible tragedy. Their daughter, Eve Rogers, was found dead in her bed by her mother. And what’s worse is that they currently have no idea what may have happened to the girl. The family is cooperating with a full police investigation, which was mounted when no clear cause of death was found. Right now, there are only more questions, and clear answers may take weeks. This has to be the absolute worst thing that family has ever gone through. I can’t even imagine how it must feel to have to navigate your child’s death, and have everything be up in the air.

The family called 911 when they found the girl unresponsive.

At 10:25 a.m. on March 18, 2026, officers from the Enfield Police Department, along with EMS and the fire department, responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive girl at a residence, they said in a press release.

When they arrived, they confirmed the death of a 12-year-old girl who lived in the home. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office was also called to the scene. Police said the cause of death “was not immediately apparent.”

A search warrant for the home was obtained, and the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad was brought in to assist with the investigation.

The girl was identified as Eve Rogers by WTNH. Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox told the outlet that it’s unknown if there was any suspicious activity happening at the girl’s home. Currently, they are working with the medical examiner’s office to get further guidance.

“We are talking to anyone that we think, including family members, may have relevant information that’s a routine part of any investigation and certainly will be a part of this one,” he said.

Fox told WFSB that they are unsure if a crime took place. It will be weeks before a cause and manner of death are confirmed.

Police aren’t the only ones investigating the girl’s death.

The Connecticut Department of Children and Families is investigating the death, they confirmed to the CT Mirror.

“We can confirm the department received a report on this tragic, untimely death and are conducting a joint investigation with law enforcement. Due to state and federal confidentiality laws, those are all the details we can share at the moment,” DCF officials said in a statement to the outlet.

According to the outlet, Eve’s mother withdrew her from school in September 2022, saying that she would be homeschooling the girl “for the rest of the school year and the foreseeable future.”

Despite her being homeschooled, Enfield Public Schools Superintendent Steven Moccio released a statement about her death. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of a 12-year-old child in our community,” he said. “Although she was not enrolled in Enfield Public Schools at the time of her passing, having been homeschooled, this loss is profoundly felt throughout our town.” Moccio said the schools would be providing counseling services for kids.

Eve’s family has a lot of support.

GoFundMe

A friend of the family started a GoFundMe to help with the unexpected funeral costs, they explained. Any additional funds will help the family take time off of work to grieve the profound loss.

“Anyone that knows this family understands the loss they are experiencing,” the fundraiser said. “Eve was an unmatched energy in this world. She was filled with passion, justice and light. A light the world needed.”

Those who live in the area expressed their shock as well. Neighbor Ruben Pimentel, couldn’t begin to process what happened. “That’s crazy. I’m sorry. My condolences go out to the family. I don’t even want to know how I would react if that happened to me if that was my daughter,” he told WFSB.

“Police [were] everywhere. I’ve never even seen that kind of state vehicle. That’s how I knew something serious was going on.”
