What to Know
Unless you have no experience with social media whatsoever, you’ve probably seen the meme of JD Vance that shows him with a larger-than-life chubby face with a creepy grin, framed by long wild curls. It’s a clear caricature of Vance, and he seemingly embraced it (or pretended to) on Halloween in 2025, but now, people think the meme has gotten to him.
In fact, people are so convinced that the Vance meme has gotten under the vice president’s skin that he lost weight to improve his overall appearance. Oops. Or, rather, where his critics are concerned, this is a possible win. When someone posted about the theory on X (formerly Twitter), critics commented to agree that it looks like Vance has lost weight and some are holding themselves personally responsible for bullying Vance via the meme.
The JD Vance meme must have gotten to him.
Is JD Vance much skinnier now or am I crazy? Did the memes get to him https://t.co/yxqwPIZwgx

The user who posted on X about Vance’s weight shared a recent video of him and wrote, “Is JD Vance much skinnier now or am I crazy? Did the memes get to him?” In the video, Vance does look a lot leaner than he did at the start of his term as the vice president alongside Donald Trump for Trump’s second term in the White House.
Does it have anything to do with the meme, though? If a person in the public eye sees a distorted image of themselves enough, it could have a lasting effect that makes them want to change something about themselves. So yes, the same can be said for Vance. But his possible weight loss could be because of stress as Trump’s second in command, especially as the United States continues to be part of the war in Iran. So you know, there’s that.
JD Vance’s critics celebrated his possible inner turmoil that resulted in weight loss.
It was a mistake to let the long curly hair JD Vance meme get popular. We should have stuck with this, the truly accurate one https://t.co/8HSqg0DxQQ pic.twitter.com/c02sqEQwkk

After the X post was shared, users replied to the post to celebrate the possibility that Vance felt so self-conscious after seeing that meme for the umpteenth time that he did something to change his appearance. I hate to be the one to break it to him, but no amount of physical changes are going to make the internet trolls let up.
One user theorized that Vance’s possible weight loss was due to his religion and not from being cyberbullied with that meme.
“He’s either vomiting a lot or he thinks starving himself for Lent somehow serves as penance for supporting the bombing of Iran,” they wrote. “Either way, his career is over, and he’s wrong about the penance. It doesn’t work like that.”
“Sorry it’s my bad I think,” another user wrote. “I called him out one too many times for having a fat face.”
Someone else joked, “I think the memes got to us. We are just used to this.” They shared one of the many Vance memes along with their reply to the X post.
Some think he’s on Ozempic.
Hey everyone.

Although Vance hasn’t said anything publicly about losing weight, people are certainly talking. Some of those who think it has to do with Vance’s infamous and invincible meme believe Vance might have had help from the GLP-1 weight loss drug Ozempic.
“The problem with Semaglutides is your body thins, but you still keep your fat head and it looks weird,” someone joked in response to the possibility of Vance being on Ozempic.
“He is absolutely,” another agreed. “The funny thing about Ozempic skinny is you can always see it by the lack of any muscle behind it. Not definition but just the bare minimum muscle mass growth you’d get from going to the gym to work off the fat. They’re all so hollow.”
Someone else commented on X, “I’ve been saying this. He’s definitely on a GLP-1.” But, according to Vance’s critics, no matter how hard he tries, there will always be something to poke fun at, so best of luck to him.
