A Maryland man is facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, after an incident involving a toddler. For reasons not disclosed by police, Kevin Morris threw the child down a flight of stairs. That was just the first of several physical abuses the child was allegedly subjected to by his hand, and all of these assaults happened in rapid succession. It’s not impossible for the child to have the assaults, but police have not given an update on the child’s condition. In fact, authorities have not given many details about the crimes Morris is accused of at all, but there is a chance he will be in jail for some time if convicted.
It took police months to actually make an arrest.

Nine months after his crime, on March 25, 2026, the elusive 23-year-old was arrested by deputies from the Prince George County Sheriff’s Office, a news release announced. Morris was charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Morris’ disappearance and arrest stem from an incident that took place on June 5, 2025, People reported. Police responded to his residence in Capitol Heights, Maryland, after receiving reports of an assault.
When they arrived, police learned that Morris had allegedly thrown a 1-year-old child down a flight of stairs in his home. He then apparently rushed down the stairs to pick up the child, the news release noted. After retrieving the child, he allegedly barricaded himself inside a room in the home.
Investigators claim that Morris then threw the baby out a window and the baby landed in a trash can outside, per People.
Attempted first-degree murder isn’t the only charge.

Kevin Morris also was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment, according to Patch in Bowie, Maryland, which cited police. However, People stated that there was no second-degree murder charge listed in online records it reviewed.
Police didn’t give any information about whether the child survived. Additionally, no information was given about Morris’ relationship to the child or a possible motive for the crime.
In their initial statement, the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office didn’t mention if it would share any more information about the case or if the investigation was continuing.
According to People, Morris is being held without bond. He is expected to appear for a preliminary hearing later this month.
People are ready to see him go away for a long time.

No one held back their feelings about Morris’ alleged crime and what they think he deserves if he’s convicted, sharing their thoughts in comments on the sheriff’s announcement.
“Sick MF . Can You Say Protective Custody,” one person wrote.
“Dam i’m glad you all got him, please don’t let him go,” another person implored.
“He needs to never see the light of day and whoever the child belongs to needs to be held accountable,” someone else chimed in.
