Only a member of Donald Trump’s family can spin things to be in his favor in such an effortless way that you almost get whiplash by trying to figure out how they did it. That’s what his devoted daughter-in-law Lara Trump did when she appeared on the podcast Katie Miller Pod, a clip of which was posted on X (formerly Twitter) to dozens of users who quickly called her out for her claims.
In the podcast episode, Lara claimed that Trump will leave the White House with less money and a lower worth than when he entered it. First of all, excuse me, what? Secondly, as people commented on the X post with the clip from the podcast, Lara’s claims are likely wildly inaccurate. But the apple doesn’t fall far from the delusional tree. We’ve all seen Trump’s Truth Social posts, after all.
Apparently, Trump is doing everyone a favor by being the president.

In the clip, Lara speaks highly of Trump, which is to be expected. Lara married Eric Trump in 2014. Together, they have two kids, so Lara is definitely ingrained in the Trump family. It makes sense, then, for her to go to bat for her father-in-law (and the president) so hard. But it doesn’t mean that everyone believes what she’s selling.
“I just wish people would appreciate, especially people on the other side of the aisle, how much easier his life would have been if he’d never gotten involved in politics,” Lara said. “You know, he’s the one president to leave the White House with less money than he went into it with. I mean, he’s had zeros off of his net worth come off because he became president, because he ran for president. They’ve gone after his businesses, they’ve gone after his family, his life prior to politics.”
Alright then, it looks like we are just saying what sounds good in the face of Trump’s critics. Because, unsurprisingly, people came for Lara in the comments on X to set her straight, at least where they’re concerned with Trump.
Not everyone believes Lara Trump’s claims.
After the clip was shared to X, some users commented to shame Lara and share disappointment with her for what they believe are lies about Trump. Others commented to point out that only MAGA enthusiasts likely believe everything Lara said and everything the Trump Administration tells them.
“Oh boy,” someone wrote on X. “With these people, all you have to do is reverse their claim and you arrive at the truth. He’s made billions. Compare that to leaders like Truman and Carter and you see the stark and disgusting contrast. He embodies avarice.”
Another wrote, “I can’t think of anyone whose life wouldn’t have been better if he never got into politics. Seriously, he can retire and return to Mar-a-Lago without any objection.”
The claim from Lara about Trump’s life being better, or easier, if he hadn’t gotten into politics is just too hard for some to believe. Especially since Trump seems to be thriving as a leader rather than losing anything, much less zeroes to his net worth.
Someone else on X made a bold claim when they wrote, “This would be funny if it weren’t such an obvious lie. The entire Trump family has enriched themselves and a few close friends through crypto, bribes, and inside trading to name a few.”

Wherever the truth lies with Lara, it’s hard to believe that Trump lost money, especially when reports of his net worth say the opposite of what Lara claimed about his earnings and income. According to Forbes, Trump’s net worth increased $3 billion over the course of a year and he is now worth a lot more than he was when he became president for the second time. He’s also the first sitting president to be a billionaire.
House Oversight Democrats reported that, through business dealings, Trump and his family are wealthier than they were before he was elected the first time. It’s not clear where Lara is getting her information, but something tells me you might be able to find her source on Truth Social at 1 a.m. any given night.
