Trump Made the Same Widow Joke About Melania That She Demanded Kimmel Be Fired For

Even though Melania and Donald Trump all but wanted Jimmy Kimmel’s head for his joke about Melania becoming a widow, Trump must have liked some part of it. Because when King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the White House, he shared a similar joke and when someone posted it on X (formerly Twitter), people called out Trump for stealing the joke. You know the joke that both Trump and Melania had such an issue with.

Kimmel originally shared his joke on his show ahead of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He was not hired for the event, so he did his own roast on his show. Now, Trump recited his own joke, seemingly about Melania being a widow someday. But there’s little chance of him actually admitting to stealing or at least being inspired by Kimmel’s joke.

Donald Trump obviously stole the widow joke.

During Trump’s speech, with Melania and the British royals seated behind him, he mentions how his parents were married for 63 years. He then turns back to his wife and jokes that they won’t be married that long. Was that a widow joke? A divorce joke? Both, somehow? Whatever it was, people are pretty sure he took Kimmel’s material for that one.

“They were married for 63 years and uh…excuse me, if you don’t mind,” Trump says before he turns back to Melania. “That’s a record we won’t be able to match, darling. I’m sorry, just not going to work out that way. We’ll do well, but we’re not gonna do that well.”

Well yeah, just literally speaking, no Trump and Melania will not be married for 63 years unless Trump lives past 120 years old. But the joking undertone caused some users on X to immediately point their fingers at the president and accuse him of stealing Kimmel’s faux White House Correspondents’ Dinner joke.

“So he’s joking about Melania being an expectant widow?” Someone commented.

Another wrote, “HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT FROM KIMMEL? Isn’t Trump just predicting his own relatively-impending death here?”

“Trump joking about Melania becoming a widow,” a user added. “I thought this was illegal.”

Melania Trump responded to Jimmy Kimmel’s joke about her and Trump.

When Kimmel told his joke, it was done with the idea of fully roasting both Trump and Melania. He joked about Melania’s impending birthday and how she is glowing in a very specific way.

“You have a glow like an expectant widow,” Kimmel said on his show. “You know, Melania’s birthday is on Sunday. She’s planning to celebrate at home the way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, ‘What have I done?'”

Afterward, Melania posted about the joke on X with a post that claimed Kimmel used his jokes to “divide our country.” That’s a little much, but OK.

“His monologue about my family isn’t comedy,” she wrote. “His words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.  It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community?”

People want to know why Melania isn’t calling for Trump to get fired now.

After Melania seemingly called for Kimmel to be fired over his joke about her and Trump, there were questions about why Melania didn’t bite back after Trump made an oddly timed joke about his and Melania’s marriage longevity.

“Ummm Trump made a joke about Melania becoming a widow himself. Americans need to stand up and fire him,” someone wrote on the X post with the video of Trump.

Another wrote, “So she needs to call for Trump to be censored too, right @FLOTUS? Same basic joke Jimmy Kimmel made.”
