A Fake Magazine Cover Comparing Princess Lilibet & Princess Charlotte Is Sparking Outrage

Even though you may often be curious about what’s going on within the royal family, things can quickly take a turn into an icky territory when there’s comparison being displayed that involves two children. Like, do we really need to go there? Seems like a bit much. Speaking of which, a fake magazine cover has hit the internet and sparked outrage when it decided to try and compare Princess Charlotte and Princess Lilibet. Luckily, people quickly caught on that this was not coming from a legitimate publication, but still, someone out there tried and it’s just an ugly attempt that feels very wrong.

A fake ‘People’ cover featuring Princess Charlotte and Lilibet hit the internet and it just feels wrong.

Seriously, haven’t these kids been through enough? This just seems so completely unnecessary.

When someone shared a magazine cover on X with a sweet photo of Princess Charlotte on the cover, they captioned the post with: “One upped on Meg and with her mouthpiece ‘People’ magazine. Can never do a cover with Betty.” There was seemingly a photo of Princess Lilibet included, but her face was covered with a heart emoji.

The main thing to note about this weird magazine cover though is that it’s actually not even real! Who knows if AI created it or someone with a little too much time on their hands, but someone in the comments section quickly shared with the poster that it was a fake. “I dont think this is a real cover. The date is March 2024. And there’s a quote from Charlotte,” they wrote. Another person confirmed their thoughts by sharing, “This is AI. No British royal would put their child on the cover of a tabloid magazine like that.”

Even though the fake cover deemed Princess Charlotte as “the girl everyone can’t stop talking about,” you can’t help but wonder if they were trying to keep things at a super icy level between the royal families.

A lot of people in the comments think it’s cruel to compare the two young princesses.

Whether it’s a fake cover or not — it is a fake, just to clarify — it does say something about society to think that someone out there thought the public actually wanted to see this comparison between young Princess Charlotte and Princess Lilibet.

One individual in the X comments shared their thoughts on the harsh reality of pitting two young girls from within the same family against each other. “I think this is [disgusting]. Who in their right mind puts little girls up against each other. They are children please God let them have their childhood without the nastiness of adults who nothing about them other than their name and age. Say what you say BUT LEAVE THE KIDS OUT OF IT.” We would have to agree. This feels like some nasty work at play here.

Another person shared, “I do not like it when a magazine Uses AI especially not when children are involved.” AI can go to some creepy places, but when it does things involving children, it doesn’t seem right whatsoever.

One individual left their thoughts in the X comments section about how this competition usually appears to be fairly one sided. “Love the one sided competition you all constantly have with the Sussexes never letting the other royals shine in their own light without click baiting,” they wrote.

There are some who have made these comparisons before.

Even though this Reddit thread was posted three years ago, it’s the perfect example of how people online have been making needless comparisons between Princess Charlotte and Princess Lilibet for years.

It’s a two-frame photo that features Prince Harry carrying his daughter, Lilibet, and Kate Middleton on the other side holding a young Charlotte. Both girls are wearing similar dresses and the caption of the Reddit thread says everything by stating, “Naturally, the first time we see Lilibucks in 2 years she is dressed exactly like Charlotte.” Okay, then. Couldn’t it be possible that two little girls have a similar looking dress in their closets?

Someone in the Reddit thread was skeptical, but decided to join in on the discussion. “This is downright bizarre. First time we’ve seen her and she wears an identical print calico dress, white socks, and shoes almost same color,” they wrote. Is it truly that bizarre, though?

Whether you’re interested or not in what Princess Charlotte and her cousin Princess Lilibet are up to and what they’re wearing, it should be apparent that involving children in these weird games of contrasting and comparing feels a little low.
