Kentucky Mom Allegedly Told Police 2-Year-Old Asked for Tattoo So She Gave Him One Inside Filthy Home

Just when we think we’ve seen the worst of parenthood, someone always comes along to prove us wrong. Parents who have babies and accept the responsibility of raising them owe them a safe, loving, and caring home. It’s their duty to provide them with simple necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. Yet far too often, we see parents who give their children none of these things and act as if they had no idea what’s required of a parent.

That’s the case for Brook McDaniel, a 27-year-old mother from Kentucky, who recently found herself under arrest for one of the most outlandish acts of stupidity we’ve ever seen.

Police responded to a home for an alleged child abuse complaint.

According to court documents obtained by LEX 18, the Kentucky State Police were dispatched to a residence in Monticello to investigate a child abuse complaint. When they arrived, they found McDaniel inside the filthy home. Troopers immediately noticed the woman’s toddler, who seemed to have a mark on his arm and red, irritated skin. The mother reportedly told police she’d been giving herself a tattoo when her 22-month-old son “walked up to her and stuck his arm in the way of her tattoo gun.”

The story seemed implausible from the jump.

How exactly does a 2-year-old get in the way of a tattoo gun and wind up with a single dot on his arm? According to the police report, McDaniel changed her story, saying she gave her son a “party dot tattoo” and that the child requested it.

Several witnesses reportedly backed up the mother’s story. No matter how much a child wants a tattoo, however, common sense tells an adult that’s not the right decision. Yet it appears there wasn’t much sense in the home that night.

McDaniel faces a charge of fourth-degree assault of a child. After observing the home’s “deplorable” conditions, troopers contacted the Department for Community-Based Services to investigate, according to court documents, per LEX 18. WKYT reported that McDaniel was in Adair County Regional Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond.

People had a hard time wrapping their heads around giving a child a tattoo.

Several people commented on WKYT’s Facebook story, wondering what McDaniel and anyone else in the home could have been thinking.

“So if the child wanted to jump off a bridge would mom help him? SMH,” one comment reads.

“She could’ve went to dollar general and got a temporary tattoo but geez not an actual one!” another person suggested.

Not everyone jumped to judgment, though. One person wanted to give McDaniel a bit of grace.

“Tattooing a child whether they want it or not is wrong…we all agree on this point. It was a bad decision on mothers part, however before I call her an abuser I would want to know is there a pattern of irresponsible behavior or is she a normally good parent who simply did not think in that moment,” the commenter wrote. “I am in no way condoning it but I am reserving judgment until I know more info.”

We want to believe that this was an accident, but something’s not adding up. Multiple people claiming a toddler asked for the tattoo as some kind of justification is wild. Where’s Ashton Kutcher? This feels like being punked.
