Nájylla Duenas Nascimento and Daniel Barbosa Marinho married in a lovely wedding ceremony in Brazil on May 9, 2026. What should have been a day of lifelong happy memories, however, will likely haunt their guests forever. At some point during the reception, an argument began between 34-year-old Nascimento and 55-year-old Marinho. The argument reportedly turned violent, and the groom pulled a gun on his new wife. He allegedly shot the bride and fled, leaving her with serious injuries. When Marinho returned a short time later, he apparently decided to end the relationship permanently.
The event took a dark turn rather quickly.
According to court documents obtained by Antena 3 CNN, the couple became involved in an intense altercation. Marinho, a member of the Municipal Guard, reportedly used his service weapon to shoot his wife. Witnesses claimed he left the scene after the nonfatal shots and returned later and fired again. The final shot killed his new wife.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene.
EMS tried life-saving measures on Nascimento, but they could not revive her. The mother of three died from her injuries at her own wedding reception. Per Antena 3 CNN, the family apparently noticed the tensions rising between Marinho and Nascimento and successfully removed the children from the area before the shooting.
The Campinas Municipal Guard shared that it “deeply regrets the incident” in a statement obtained by Antena 3 CNN. Marinho began serving in the Municipal Guard in 1998. The organization has duties similar to an armed security service.

Nascimento and Marinho’s story saddened many. They used social media to share love and prayers with the bride’s family.
“My sincere condolences to the family. May the HOLY SPIRIT comfort the hearts of all family and friends in this moment of pain and sadness, it is very sad a young and beautiful woman with a whole life ahead of her,” someone shared. “They often hide behind the burdens, not generalizing, but I know well what they are capable of, and I say from personal experience… They should be forced to treat themselves they are sick behind the cover.”
“How much cowardice only God to have mercy,” another person commented. “My condolences, may God comfort everyone’s hearts.”
It’s unclear what prompted such a violent attack, but some people in the comment section alluded to jealousy and the couple’s significant age difference. In the end, it doesn’t really matter. A man’s rage took the mother of three children away from them. The only solace in this situation is that the family had the foresight to get the children out of the room before things took a deadly turn. May they never forget their mother but erase this horrific nightmare from their memories.
