Minnesota Couple Charged After Their Daughter Was Caught Handing Out THC Gummies at School

It’s such a shame that as your kids grow older, it can be difficult to determine if some of the other school parents and families are actually safe people for them to be around. Your child may see one thing, while you start to notice another that seems kind of suspect. Speaking of which, a couple from Minnesota was arrested after their daughter, who is in middle school, was allegedly given THC products, including edible gummies, and handed them out to her classmates. Several students got sick as a result. Police say the girl’s father was supplying her with the product.

A 12-year-old middle schooler was handing out THC products at school that were allegedly provided by her parents.

According to FOX9, parents in Moorhead, Minnesota, are facing multiple charges after their 12-year-old daughter, who attended Horizon Middle School, was caught distributing vape cartridges containing THC as well as THC gummies that had been provided by her parents.

Police responded to the middle school on May 18, 2026, when a dozen students reported to the nurse’s office with signs of impairment, CBS Minnesota reported. Several of the students were exhibiting signs of slow movements, elevated heart rates, bloodshot eyes, and a few were vomiting. Two students had to be taken to the hospital, per the news outlet.

According to CBS Minnesota, one of the students told authorities that she had been given “sour strips” from a fellow student. The criminal complaint also details that one of the impaired students submitted to a urine test, which tested positive for marijuana, per the news outlet.

Martin and Amanda Hulst are facing multiple drug-related charges.

The middle schooler’s parents, Martin and Amanda Hulst, face a total of nine charges, including drug possession of hallucinogens and child endangerment, after an investigation found they were supplying their daughter with drugs to take to school to sell to her classmates, FOX9 reported.

After multiple students reported receiving THC products from the student at school, video surveillance was reviewed and it showed the 12-year-old handing out gummies in the hallway, per the news outlet.

When the child’s parents were called to come to the school to pick her up on May 18, it was discovered that they were on vacation and she was in the care of her grandparents, per FOX9. Her parents were due to come back from California that day, around midnight.

A search warrant for the Hulst’s home revealed a plethora of dangerous materials.

Police say they found a large amount of THC products in the home.

According to KSTP, when police executed a search warrant on the Hulst’s home, they found a “massive drug operation” that included a child’s bedroom packed with boxes of THC vape cartridges. At the home when police arrived to search it were two toddlers and the children’s grandfather.

The criminal complaint details that the home’s basement was “allegedly set up like a commercial storefront, complete with display cabinets, packaging materials, a scale, and bags printed with ‘Thank You,'” KSTP reported.

A Coors Light bag was also discovered with two bags of suspected psilocybin mushrooms weighing over 600 grams inside, FOX9 reported. There was also a large amount of THC wax, cartridges, and over $70,000 in cash stashed in various safes, per the news outlet.

Investigators were able to recover a red candy strip from the daughter’s sweatshirt pocket that matched up with what had been distributed at the middle school, per KSTP.

Both Martin and Amanda Hulst were taken into custody during a traffic stop after law enforcement observed them arriving at a North Dakota airport, FOX9 reported.

We hope the students who got sick at school are recovering and the Hulsts’ children are with loved ones who are going to show them a safe and loving home.
