Josh Duggar Transferred to Federal Medical Facility the Same Day His Appeal Was Denied

19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar, who is currently serving a 12-year sentence on child sexual abuse material charge, was reportedly transferred to a facility for inmates who need medical and mental health services.

According to TMZ, Duggar was moved on May 29 from a minimum-security prison, FCI Seagoville in Texas, to the Federal Medical Center in Forth Worth, where Tiger King Joe Exotic is also being held. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer after he was jailed over a failed murder-for-hire plot to kill his rival, animal welfare activist Carole Baskin.

Few other details were provided about Duggar’s transfer, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to provide further details, citing security concerns.

From 2008 to 2015, Duggar starred with his parents and siblings on 19 Kids and Counting, a reality show chronicling the lives of their conservative family in Arkansas. It ran for more than 200 episodes over the course of 10 seasons, but TLC canceled the series in 2015 after Duggar was accused of molesting several girls when he was a teenager. He was never criminally charged, though it was previously reported four of the five girls he abused were his younger sisters.

Duggar also later admitted to using Ashley Madison to have an extramarital affair and later revealed he checked into rehab for pornography addiction.

Then, in December 2021, he was found guilty of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material and he was sentenced a year later to serve 12 and a half years in prison.

The news of his transfer comes the same day a federal judge denied Duggar’s appeal to vacate his conviction, People reported. He cited the fact that Duggar did not file his motion on time in issuing the denial.

His brother, Joseph Duggar, was also recently arrested over allegations that he molested a 9-year-old girl six years ago during a vacation in Florida. He’s facing charges including lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older.

He and his wife, Kendra, are also facing four counts each of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment in connection with a separate case.
