One woman on Reddit is drawing the ire of hundreds after venting about a trip she recently planned that went seriously off the rails. According to her post, the user wanted her recent getaway with her sisters to be perfect which is why she extensively planned and researched everything about their upcoming trip to Disney. But it was the mandatory "set of rules" she drafted for the women that rubbed everyone the wrong way. And now, it has the entire internet sounding off.
The story was shared this week on the popular subreddit, "Am I the A--hole?"
Trouble started as soon as she gave her sisters the list
"I sent my sisters this list today so they could know what to expect," she explained on Reddit. "They didn’t take it too well and said that I was being very overdramatic and that this wasn’t needed."
In response, the woman told her sisters that it was indeed needed especially if they wanted to get the most out of their Disney experience.
"We got into an argument over it and now they are saying they no longer want to go on the trip," the poster continued. "I thought that making this list of rules would make things easier for everyone and make it a more enjoyable time, but maybe I was being a bit dramatic."
After asking for advice, the woman's post was flooded with feedback
Unfortunately for her, it wasn't all positive.
"You sound a like a lot of fun on vacation," one person said, sarcastically.
"Who do you think you are to dictate to other adults how they spend their vacation?" added someone else. "You're not their mom, they didn't sign up for Disney bootcamp."
"Don’t be a Disney-zilla," another person warned. "You don’t have to do everything together. If they don’t want to rope drop, go do it yourself and enjoy doing it your way. You can always meet up."
"Your sisters are presumably not children," yet another person told her. "They can make their own decisions about what shoes to wear and if they want to sleep in while on vacation, they are perfectly entitled to do so. You’re the trip planner, not their drill sergeant."
Ultimately, the poster heard their messages loud and clear
In a follow-up comment, the woman appeared to see the error of her ways and wanted to make things right.
"I have read majority of the comments," the poster shared. "I apologized to my sisters and we all had a Group FaceTime about what we wanted to do on this trip and I gave them suggestions instead of rules now. I told them that I could rope drop and they could meet me whenever they got up and they agreed … "
Apparently, the sisters are now on "good terms" again and the trip is still a-go. (But we're willing to bet her trip-planning privileges are going to be revoked for quite a while.)
