Despite the fact that Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll‘s divorce is finalized (yes, it did happen that fast), the saga between these exes is still playing out publicly. Bunnie hasn’t been shy about sharing exactly what went down from her point of view, and she spilled even more details during her podcast this week, admitting that finding out about her ex-husband’s “betrayal” was so shocking to her it felt like “whiplash.”
Bunnie Xo talked about how she felt after discovering Jelly Roll’s “affair.”
While talking to guest Denise Richards on Bunnie’s Dumb Blonde podcast this week, the two women connected over their difficult divorces — for Bunnie, that was Jelly Roll, for Denise, that was Aaron Phypers, who she split with last year.
Looking back on infidelity that happened in her marriage long before she and Jelly Roll decided to divorce, Bunnie said she felt “slimy” experiencing a betrayal like that.
“When I had gone through a situation with an affair, it’s not the act that hurts you,” she said. “It’s the lies. It’s just, like, whiplash.”
Calling it a “different kind of hurt,” Bunnie added, “There’s no way to feel good about it. Betrayal trauma literally rewires your brain to not trust people, to just feel disgusting because you’re the last to know. Nobody ever wants to be the f—ing last to know.”
This wasn’t the incident that directly led to their divorce, though.
What Bunnie’s talking about is a cheating scandal that Jelly Roll made public last year, which he came clean about publicly on the Human School podcast.
“I don’t talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” he said during the episode, which aired in October. “I was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives.”
He said that after they were able to repair things, his relationship with Bunnie was “stronger” than ever, but that comment didn’t age very well. Even renewing their vows afterwards didn’t save their marriage in the end.
As of July 17, Bunnie and Jelly Roll are officially and legally divorced.
Last month, multiple outlets including People reported that Bunnie and Jelly Roll’s divorce was finalized, leaving the couple to split up their assets including homes and intellectual properties. At the time, People also reported that Jelly Roll would be paying Bunnie a lump sum instead of paying alimony to his ex-wife.
When Bunnie first opened up about their divorce on her podcast, she said that she expected their divorce to be settled in a matter of weeks. At the time, she also said that she still expected to continue undergoing IVF with her ex.
“J is my best friend. Like, this isn’t what you guys think this is,” she said. “Nobody cheated on the other person. It’s literally just we served our purpose for each other.”
