23 Celebrities Who Were Kicked Off Airplanes for Behaving Badly

There's a certain level of decorum that's expected when people fly, but as anyone who's been on a passenger jet before knows, not everybody seems to abide by it. And unfortunately, certain celebrities seem to fit into that group. Over the years, we've seen stars behaving badly while navigating the friendly skies (making us wonder why they wouldn't just take a private jet if they could have afforded it), and occasionally, they even end up getting kicked off of the plane entirely.

Most recently, Mike Tyson made headlines for getting into a brawl while on a plane, but he definitely isn't the first — or the only — celeb to face these kinds of consequences. And some of the people who have been kicked off flights definitely aren't the ones we would have suspected would cause that much trouble!

Read on for celebrities who have been kicked off of airplanes. Some of these stories are pretty wild, but there's no doubt they helped entertain the other passengers onboard.

Kate Moss

Talk about needing a drink! Supermodel Kate Moss was escorted off an EasyJet flight at England's London Luton airport in June 2015 after squabbling with flight crew members and calling the pilot a "basic b—-."

The incident began when a flight attendant refused to serve alcohol to a seemingly buzzed Kate, prompting her to rummage through her luggage for her own vodka stash. When reprimanded, Kate allegedly became disruptive.

Mike Tyson

In April 2022, Mike Tyson was removed from a flight after allegedly getting violent with a fellow passenger. In footage originally obtained by TMZ, Mike appears to punch a man who had reportedly requested to take a photo with him before proceeding to harass him as the flight continued. Mike's rep later confirmed that the boxer had been in an "incident with an aggressive passenger."

30 Rock star Alec Baldwin made headlines in December 2011 when he was booted off an American Airlines plane after reportedly refusing to turn off his cellphone before takeoff — all because he wanted to play "Words with Friends." According to some reports, Alec was so furious over the request that he stood up, insulted the crew members, went to the bathroom with his phone, and slammed the door, prompting the pilot to return the plane to the gate and eject the actor. Alec later denied acting so belligerently, but did admit he was unnerved by the flight attendant's "rude tone."

In July 2010, five years after David Chappelle walked away from his successful Comedy Central show, fueling rumors of a meltdown, the comedian had a major mid-air freak-out. While aboard a private jet heading from New Jersey to Ohio, Dave reportedly exhibited such erratic behavior that the pilot, believing that Dave posed a safety risk, opted to divert the plane to Pittsburgh in order to make an emergency landing.

Selma Blair was carried off a plane on a stretcher and rushed to a Los Angeles hospital. The Cruel Intentions actress was traveling back home with her ex, Jason Bleick, and their son, Arthur (then 4 years old), after the family enjoyed a Father's Day getaway in Cancun, Mexico. During the flight, Selma allegedly went on a bizarre rant and then blacked out.

Days later, Selma apologized via a Vanity Fair statement, saying she'd made the mistake of mixing alcohol with prescription medication. "I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident," she said.

Hot Shots Worldwide

In 1994, Mr. Robot star Christian Slater boarded a Delta flight with an unlicensed 9mm pistol in his carry-on luggage, resulting in his removal from the flight and swift arrest. Had he pulled that stunt post-9/11, he might have ended up flagged by Homeland Security and placed on a no-fly list. It being the early '90s, however, his Rambo-esque actions merely resulted in a community service sentence.

Ivana Trump

Donald Trump's ex-wife Ivana Trump was tossed off a plane in Florida in December 2009 after allegedly screaming obscenities at a group of rowdy children who were running down the aisles, referring to them as "little f—s." She reportedly became so hostile that the pilot returned to the airport terminal rather than remaining in the queue for takeoff. Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office had to escort Ivana off the plane.

Billie Joe Armstrong

Apparently, some Southwest Air employees consider saggy pants a dire offense. In September 2011, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was booted off an Oakland-to-Burbank flight for wearing his pants too low. According to reports, a flight attendant approached the musician and asked him to pull his pants up. "Don't you have better things to worry about?" he reportedly retorted. When the flight attendant repeated the request and Billie Joe did not comply, he was unceremoniously kicked off the flight.

Naomi Campbell

Given that she'd made headlines for throwing cellphones at her assistants, no one was particularly shocked when news surfaced that Naomi Campbell was kicked off a British Airways flight in April 2008. Allegedly, the hot-tempered supermodel went on a screaming rampage when told that one of the bags she'd checked was AWOL. Naomi's tirade was so extreme that she was handcuffed, escorted off the plane by police, and taken to the Heathrow police station.

Dolores O'Riordan

The late Dolores O'Riordan apparently had some lingering anger issues back in November 2014 when she caused a ruckus during a flight from New York to Shannon, Ireland. The lead singer of the Cranberries was arrested after becoming disruptive and stomping on a flight attendant's foot — all because she refused to sit down and buckle her seatbelt as the plane was landing. Even worse, when police came to arrest her, Dolores headbutted an officer and spat in his face. The air rage incident resulted in a $6,000 fine.

Kevin Smith

In February 2010, Kevin Smith was ejected from a Southwest Air flight for being overweight. The Clerks director had purchased two seats for the flight from Oakland to Burbank, California, but decided to fly stand-by on an earlier flight, purchasing the one remaining seat on it. Once seated, the flight crew determined he was infringing on the comfort of adjacent passengers and asked him to leave. Kevin tweeted about the debacle, writing, "I broke no regulation, offered no 'safety risk' (what, was I gonna roll on a fellow passenger?)" Though the airline later apologized, Kevin refused to fly Southwest for six years.

Leisha Hailey

The LGBT community was outraged when, in September 2011, news surfaced that The L Word's Leisha Hailey was kicked off a Southwest Air flight for kissing her girlfriend, Camila Grey, who was sitting next to her. Apparently responding to a passenger complaint, a flight attendant asked the lesbian couple to refrain from any more PDA, noting theirs was a "family airline." Both Leisha and Camila voiced their outrage over the blatantly homophobic request, and they were escorted off the plane.

"Southwest Air endorses homophobic employees," Leisha tweeted at the time. "I want to know what Southwest considers a family."

Gérard Depardieu

When nature calls, Gérard Depardieu answers — even if it means public urination aboard an aircraft. After drinking several bottles of wine before boarding a CityJet flight in August 2011, the French actor felt a pressing need to relieve himself. But a flight attendant insisted he wait until the plane had taken off and reached the appropriate cruising altitude. Flustered, Gérard reportedly scrambled to the back of the plane and attempted to pee into an empty bottle. Urine inevitably splattered on the floor, and Gérard was thrown off the flight — presumably with an empty bladder.

Josh Duhamel

In December 2010, actor Josh Duhamel was escorted off an airplane in New York City for reportedly refusing to turn off his BlackBerry smartphone (remember those?) before takeoff. Despite repeated warnings, Josh continued texting on his device, even allegedly taunting nearby flight attendants, as the plane sat on the runway waiting for takeoff permission. In the end, all other passengers had to endure a delay as the plane had to return to the gate so Josh could be removed.

Mo'Nique

In 2006, Mo'Nique was kicked off a United Airlines flight following an argument over a hair dryer. The comedian's hairstylist, who was flying coach, attempted to store Mo'Nique's dryer in first class (where the actress was sitting) after realizing there was no room in the overhead bins allotted for coach passengers. A crew member interrogated the hairstylist, then issued a warning to Mo'Nique. The actress allegedly became enraged, believing she was being racially profiled. "I felt like I was being treated like an animal," she said. "This happens to Black people all the time, and they don't have a voice. I have a voice."

Liam Gallagher

As the lead singer of Oasis, Liam Gallagher won many critical accolades — and a reputation for being a jerk. The latter was solidified when Liam earned himself a lifelong ban from Cathay Pacific in 1998. While flying from Hong Kong to Perth, Australia, a visibly drunk Liam reportedly ignored the airline's no-smoking policy and lit up a cigarette, threw food at other passengers for his own amusement, and subjected everyone onboard to obscene and abusive language. It's more than 20 years later, and Cathay Pacific has seemingly stuck to its guns, refusing to accommodate Liam or his entourage.

Courtney Love

In February 2003, musician Courtney Love was arrested for disruptive behavior and endangering an aircraft minutes after her Virgin Atlantic flight touched down in London from Los Angeles. During the flight, Courtney reportedly refused to take her seat and subjected the cabin crew to a slew of profanity-laden insults. Officers at Heathrow Airport were notified of a disorderly passenger aboard the aircraft and, upon landing, they escorted Courtney off the plane and into a police van.

Conrad Hilton

Conrad Hughes Hilton III, brother of Paris and Nicky, put his brattitude on full display during a flight from London to Los Angeles in July 2014. Conrad's horrifying in-flight behavior spanned 10 hours — from before takeoff until landing. An investigation revealed he smoked weed and cigarettes in the airplane bathroom, wandered through the plane insulting and threatening crew members, and repeatedly yelled out, "I will f—ing own anyone on this flight; they are f—ing peasants!"

When he eventually dozed off, flight attendants were authorized to restrain him using handcuffs, and he was arrested upon landing. Conrad was fined $5,000 and asked to complete 750 hours of community service after the debacle.

Soulja Boy

All Soulja Boy needed to do was sit down and buckle his seatbelt while an American Airlines flight attendant rattled off the requisite safety instructions. Instead, in an August 2013 incident, the "Crank That" rapper reportedly defied flight attendants' repeated instructions to remain seated, resulting in two armed officers removing the uncooperative passenger from the plane.

In 2006, David Hasselhoff was banned from entering a British Airways flight when he was deemed too drunk to fly from London to Los Angeles. "Hasselhoff downed bottles of beer and shots of whisky as he waited for his flight and told BA staff he was upset about his divorce from wife Pamela after 16 years," a source told The Sun at the time, via Daily Mail.

David was told he could take a later flight, likely once he'd sobered up a bit.

Blac Chyna

In 2016, Blac Chyna was kicked off of a flight leaving Texas after she allegedly caused a disturbance while intoxicated. After she was removed from the flight, Chyna was arrested and charged with "public intoxication and a felony charge of possession of less than four grams of a controlled substance," according to CBS News.

Stephen Amell

Arrow star Stephen Amell was removed from a flight in June 2021 after reportedly getting into an argument with wife Cassandra Jean Amell. Later, Stephen tweeted that after he got off of the Delta flight, he was able to rebook another flight with Southwest without an issue.

"My wife and I got into an argument Monday afternoon on a Delta flight. I was asked to lower my voice and I did. Approximately 10 minutes later, I was asked to leave the flight. And I did so immediately. I was not forcibly removed," he tweeted.

In 2016, Lamar Odom, NBA player and ex-husband of Khloé Kardashian, was kicked off a Delta flight after he was spotted drinking in a lounge before the flight, according to TMZ. Reportedly, Lamar was removed from the plane after he reportedly vomited three times (including in the plane's galley) after boarding to travel to New York.
