Amy Schumer Explains Why She Deleted All Her Pre-Weight Loss Photos From Instagram

This week, fans were surprised to see that Amy Schumer has wiped her entire Instagram account clean … minus her newest photos, of course. After this change led to a lot of questions about why she wanted to get rid of all of the photos of herself that she shared before her recent weight loss, Amy is speaking out. And according to her, the decision to start fresh on social media has nothing to do with her body.

Amy’s Instagram photos disappeared on Tuesday.

Instead, she simply shared photos of herself wearing a red dress and sporting her new physique, casually mentioning that she had decided to wipe her Instagram clean.

“I actually left my house tonight. Who’s proud? I’m feeling good and happy. Deleted my old pics for no reason!” she wrote in her caption.

Immediately, her followers began to wonder if she deleted the old photos because she looks so different these days; after all, Amy has been honest about her experience with Mounjaro in recent months. But according to the 44-year-old actress, that’s not the case at all.

Now, she claims her weight loss isn’t why she wanted a clean slate.

On Wednesday afternoon, Amy returned to Instagram to clear up the rumor that she deleted photos of herself because they were taken before she’d lost weight, insisting that she’s been “proud of how I’ve looked always.”

“I have been working to be pain free and I finally am,” Amy wrote. “My endometriosis is better. My back is healing. I no longer have Cushing syndrome so my face went back to normal. I am grateful to be strong and healthy especially for my son. But your Instagram is not your identity it’s a curation of what you want the world to see and I feel great strong and beautiful and it’s been fun sharing that.”

Amy also said that her health journey has nothing to do with her weight.

She went on to say that isn’t on a “weight loss journey” — instead, she’s prioritizing her health.

“I’m sure my weight will always fluctuate. I’m a perimenopausal woman on hrt meds,” she said. “Wishing you strength and self love on whatever path you’re on as long as it’s kind and respectful to all people. No matter their weight race or religion peace!”

She already reposted one of her older photos.

To further prove her point, Amy also posted a photo of herself going to the bathroom while hooked up to an IV from when she was in the hospital after her son, Gene, was born — likely to show that she isn’t afraid of an unflattering photo of herself existing on social media.

In the end, all that matters is that Amy is feeling good about herself and that definitely seems to be the case. Good for her for defending her choice, even if that choice is just to start fresh on social media.
