As moms across the country prepare for the back-to-school season — celebrity moms included — Carrie Underwood is sharing what her routine looks like. And apparently, she's landed in some pretty hot water for it. During a new interview with Sirius XM, Carrie shared a rather controversial take on what moms should be doing as they send their kids back to school, and it seems to have caused a bit of a debate, leading some to call her "out of touch" for not realizing the realities of non-famous working mom life.

Carrie shared a tip for parents who are sending their kids back to school.
"My advice to parents sending their children back to school is mimosas on the first day," she said. "I love all the time I get to spend with them, but I also love when they just go to school for just a little bit so mama can have a mimosa and, like, mop the floor, you know?"
Though plenty of parents out there celebrate the peace and quiet they get after a long summer of chaos, Carrie's advice really hit a nerve with people who watched this clip from the interview on Instagram.
This prompted some commenters to call her 'out of touch.'
"She’s a sweet soul and this was intended to be cute and lighthearted but … sigh … it’s just … very out of touch in more ways than one," one person wrote.
Another commenter added, "Rich people huh … I actually hated when school started … she sounds fake."
Carrie's experience probably isn't realistic for most working moms.
For many working moms, the morning before school is a whirlwind of trying to get yourself ready for work while also getting your kids ready for school, and then trying to make sure everyone's getting out the door on time.
Even if you work remotely, not only will you not have time to drink mimosas and celebrate, but it's also pretty frowned upon to drink alcohol while on the clock! It would be nice to kick back and soak up the silence with a nice beverage on the first day of school, but it's simply not practical for many parents.

Some did come to Carrie's defense, though.
One person commented in defense of Carrie herself (and her modest upbringing).
"Her dad worked at a paper mill, her Mom is a retired teacher and her sisters are still teaching, as far as I know. She was simply being humorous," the person wrote. "She’s a small town girl who’s financially successful, but you don’t have to be rich to make a mimosa nor enjoy a little free time from the precious kiddos!"
"We all love our kids more than we love life but there’s nothing wrong with also admitting that you need me time or quiet time to yourself!!" a fellow mom added in a comment of her own. "And if it includes a drink or two … you do you!!"
Not everyone's motherhood experience is the same.
Though some people will be celebrating and relaxing as the school year begins, like Carrie, who is mom to Isaiah, 7, and Jacob, 3, others will be thrown into a different, stressful phase of the year. That's just how it goes.
But hopefully all moms will be able to find some time to recharge during this time of year. Back-to-school can be so hectic!
