Cory Wharton updated fans and followers on how his 7-month-old daughter, Maya, is doing following her open-heart surgery. Earlier in the week, the former Teen Mom star shared an update that his daughter was sedated and on a ventilator, but his latest news takes another direction.
Cory shared an update on social media.

On Instagram Stories, Cory explained that his little girl is on the mend after a challenging surgery and slow recovery.
"Maya is off the ventilator!" he shared along with a photo of himself giving his daughter a bottle while resting in her hospital bed.
It sounds like things with Maya are going in the right direction.
Maya is “no longer intubated” Cory shared, which is welcome news following his last update where he explained that his daughter required additional breathing support.
“We are going to continue to make steps in the right direction,” the thankful dad noted.
He added that they’re hoping to be able to hold Maya soon.

The happy dad, who shares Maya with Taylor Selfridge (they also have two older kids together), appeared thrilled to be able to feed his daughter, and he was hopeful to get to hold her soon too.
Cory also took time to say thank you to all the people who have been supporting his daughter and his family.
"I just wanna say thank you guys, sorry I haven't got all your messages. But trust me prayers were heard," he wrote.
The proud dad shared several photos of his little girl resting.
Maya is in the hospital for the second of three planned procedures due to a congenital heart condition.
Cory and Taylor welcomed Maya on June 1 and shared 10 days later that she had been diagnosed with tricuspid atresia, a congenital heart condition.
At the time, Cory explained the condition "happens when the heart's tricuspid valve does not develop" explaining that those valves provide an important function "pumping blood between the lungs and body."
Cory seems happy to see his daughter's second surgery second done and his little one into the recovery stage.
Treatment for the condition requires surgery in three different parts, and Cory seems happy to have the second phase done.
According to a previous update, Cory explained his daughter’s first procedure to help treat her congenital heart defect happened when she was less than a week old. Her third, and hopefully final, procedure will happen when Maya is around 3 or 4 years old.
Our thoughts continue to be with Cory and Taylor as their daughter recovers!
