The Most Dramatic Changing Faces in Hollywood

Many, many celebrities get some form of cosmetic procedure, especially as it's become more commonplace for regular people, too. From nose jobs and cheek fillers to lip injections and full-on face lifts, it's understandably tempting for stars to want to keep their youthful glow via any mechanism they can. If we had to be photographed that many times a day by paparazzi hiding outside our house in bushes, we'd probably also want to look our best.

Sadly, not all plastic surgery procedures are equally successful, and some are way more noticeable than others. Even the celebs who won't admit to having work done, we can't help but be suspicious of based on how much their faces have changed over the course of their careers.

Take Madonna, for example. The 64-year-old pop icon shocked fans when she appeared at the 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony, looking almost unrecognizable. Her much rounder, fuller, smoother face has many suspecting she's gone under the knife — but to the point where she no longer resembles the Material Girl we know and love.

But Madonna's not the only one whose appearance has changed dramatically. Can you spot the differences in these celebs' faces?

Madonna has always been a natural beauty since exploding onto the music scene in the '80s. She has a radiant smile and pretty features, and she commanded attention in every room she stepped in to. But while she has never confirmed or denied getting plastic surgery, it does seem like perhaps over the years she's tried to turn back the clock to those early '80s days.

When the "Vogue" singer took the stage at the 2023 Grammys to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith for their "Unholy" appearance, Twitter instantly lit up with chatter about her very different looking face. "Me attempting to ignore the fact that Madonna has a whole new face. #GRAMMYs," one fan tweeted.

Another person had a hard time believing they were even looking at the real Madonna. "This legit looks like a Madonna impersonator with pics of the real Madonna in the background. She really f—ed up her face," the person wrote, referring to photos projected on the stage of Madonna's most iconic looks over the years.

Tom Cruise Before

Tom Cruise has been around in Hollywood since he was young, appearing in iconic '80s films including Risky Business and Top Gun. So we all got really used to him looking a certain way, and he's stayed pretty consistent on that over the years. He was handsome enough naturally that he didn't need any work done to continue being cast as the romantic lead.

But in 2021, Tom's face seemed extra puffy in ways that seem consistent with perhaps using too much filler. Tom hasn't opened up about getting plastic surgery or anything, but several cosmetic surgeons weighed in on RadarOnline to discuss that they thought he may have been getting some work done for his face to react that way.

Courteney Cox is most famous for playing Monica Geller on Friends, a role she landed at 30. For a decade she played the uptight chef, becoming a television staple broadcast into homes worldwide. People got used to how her face looked between the ages of 30 and 40. But she looks a lot different these days as she nears 60.

It's not just that Courteney has aged (she's 58 now), but she has had work done and then undone. The actress admitted that she had fillers, which she's now dissolved, and that sometimes her tiny tweaks would quickly add up, making her look much different. She now says she embraces aging naturally.

"You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do," she said. "Those aren't wrinkles — they're smile lines. I've had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend."

Meg Ryan Before

In the late '80s and '90s, Meg Ryan was the go-to leading lady for all the big rom-coms. From When Harry Met Sally to You've Got Mail, her face was everywhere. She was a natural beauty like many an actress before her but it wasn't long before she did seem to step into that world of plastic surgery — and it wasn't necessarily a win for her.

Although Meg has never confirmed having any work done to her face, it wouldn't surprise us if she did. Her smile looks much different, and her cheeks and forehead appear firmer. Filler is the obvious assumption to be made here, with many remarking over the years that the work she may have had done hasn't been that good.

Renée Zellweger Before

Cute and quirky RenĂ©e Zellweger was known in the early 2000s for the rom-com Bridget Jones's Diary, in which she played a supposedly slightly unflattering character who wanted love but couldn't seem to find it. But looking back at the movie now, she was always gorgeous — and we can't believe she was presented as unflattering at all!

These days, Renée looks almost unrecognizable, but that may just be a result of aging and/or losing a bit of weight. In any case, she's denied the plastic surgery rumors. "It's only momentarily where you go, 'Jeez, wow, [the rumors are] pretty painful,'" she said, adding that she tries not to pay them any mind. "But I don't live in that. And I'm busy! I have other things to do."

Kylie Jenner Before

Kylie Jenner grew up in front of our eyes on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, so it was actually incredibly easy to pinpoint when she started to delve into the world of things like lip fillers. She denied doing so for years, claiming that she was just overlining her lips, but the evidence was always right in front of our eyes.

When Kylie admitted to using lip fillers, she really leaned into it — eventually going on to create a whole line of plumping lipsticks and lip liners and later expanding into eye shadow, skin care, and more. She's a billionaire beauty business mogul now, in large part because of her choice to get lip fillers and make them such a central part of her identity.

Khloé Kardashian Before

Kylie isn't the only Kardashian-Jenner lady to have plastic surgery accusations thrown at her. KhloĂ© Kardashian has also undergone a lot of changes — from getting into top physical shape to going through with some modifications to her face. On the recent KUWTK reunion, she opened up about her plastic surgery for one of the first times and admitted that she has had quite a bit done.

During the reunion, Khloé admitted that she's had a nose job and that she's also gotten face injections, but that Botox has never really been the best option for her. She said: "Like, why don't I talk about it? No one's ever asked me." People do make hurtful comments about what Khloé's face looks like now, so we can't blame her for not wanting to open up about it.

Chrissy Teigen Before

We had to do about 16 double takes to confirm that this is actually a photo of Chrissy Teigen. It was snapped in 2008 at a birthday party she attended in New York. She looks soooo different than she does now — it's wild to see. Chrissy is another celeb who has been honest about some of the work she's had done.

Instead of getting face fillers, Chrissy said that she had a procedure done to slim down parts of her face. She had something done called buccal fat removal, which is basically just a cheek reduction. "Why would I fill these huge cheeks?" she said to people accusing her of pumping up her cheeks.
