Emma Roberts is a mama to a 2-year-old boy named Rhodes, whom she shares with her ex, Garrett Hedlund. Since welcoming Rhodes into her life, Emma has been pretty private about her private life and was mindful of how much she shared of her son with the world.
Well, Emma’s mom, Kelly Cunningham, has found herself in hot water for sharing more of her grandson than Emma was comfortable with.
On February 9, 2023, Emma reposted a photo to her Instagram Stories calling out her mom.
The callout was over a photo Kelly shared of Rhodes on Instagram last week without checking with Emma first.
"When your mom posts your sons face without asking,” Emma shared on her Stories, “but you love them both so whatever.”
The photo was the first time fans saw Emma’s son’s face.
Emma has never shared a full face photo of her son before, and his dad, Garrett, has never shared a face photo of his son either.
The image Kelly shared to social media was the first time fans were able to get a good look at Rhodes, who was born in December 2020. In the photo, Rhodes is dressed for fall weather, wearing a green sweater and cute little jeans while standing in a pile of green and yellow leaves.
“Little man is growing up!” Kelly wrote in the caption.
Emma is likely not too angry with her mom given the image is still on Kelly’s social media.
Responding to Emma calling her out on her Instagram Stories, Kelly shared a screenshot of Emma’s call out to her Instagram grid.
“The battle continues!!” Kelly wrote in the caption. “I love you Q!! Touche.’”
This isn’t the first time Kelly has overstepped in Emma’s life.
In 2020, while visiting Jimmy Kimmel on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Emma said that her mom shared the news she was pregnant with the world before she was able to and before she wanted the news to be public.
"I was keeping my pregnancy pretty low-key, but unfortunately my mother has Instagram. Mothers and Instagram, it's a bad combination," Roberts told Jimmy Kimmel. "She spilled the beans."
'She was like, 'Thank you so much for the well-wishes! We're so excited.' It was endless. My friends were sending me screen grabs,' Emma recalled.
"It was unbelievable. When I said to her, 'Mom, you revealed my pregnancy.' She goes, 'Emma, you announced it!' And I said, 'No I didn't. That was a tabloid.' She goes, 'Oh I didn't … that wasn't clear.'"
Emma explained that it took a bit for them to work it through. "We kind of laughed. We kind of got into a fight. I blocked her at one point," she shared, adding it’s a "good story to tell the baby."
