18 Fall Family Photo Ideas Inspired by the Roloffs

We have so many reasons why we love following the Roloff family on Instagram, but one of the big ones is the fact that they offer up so much photo inspiration. Between Tori Roloff's talent for photography, and the gorgeous shoots that she and Audrey Roloff are always having with their husbands and kids, we are constantly blown away by how amazing their pictures come out — especially during the fall.

In Oregon, they're lucky to have colorful falls that mean plenty of changing leaves everywhere, and by being Roloffs, they also have all that access to Roloff Farms, with its pumpkin patch and gorgeous backdrops perfect for family photos. Something is seriously magical about the pictures we take, and even if we can't travel to Roloff Farms to shoot pics among the pumpkins with our own gang, we can definitely draw a lot of inspiration from their past photos and the locations they've used that give off all the fall vibes.

Read on for all kinds of fall family photo ideas, straight from the photos the Roloffs have taken themselves. It's totally possible to recreate so many of our favorite pics they've taken during our own shoots create photos we'll treasure forever.

Sit Among the Pumpkins

It's important to keep everyone's photo outfits clean, so save these shots for the end, but honestly, is there anything cuter than Tori, Zach, and their kids sitting on the ground surrounded by pumpkins? This photo gives off all the fall vibes, and it's such a natural shot for families who have super young kids.

Be in the Trees

Don't waste a fall family photo session inside of a studio. Nature is providing a gorgeous backdrop, and this way, it'll mark the exact time the pictures were taken. Here, Audrey, Jeremy, and their kids look absolutely gorgeous surrounded by trees. Audrey Roloff always talks about how great fall is in Oregon, and with photos like this, we have no choice but to believe her.

Babies in the Air Make for a Sweet Pose

With infants in the fam, it can be really hard to think of poses for a baby, especially ones who aren't old enough to sit up on their own or stand quite yet. Tori Roloff holding Lilah up in the air like this makes for such a sweet mother-daughter shot — and it's even cuter with all the pumpkins in the background.

Pose in the Wheat Fields

Pumpkin patches aren't the only pretty fall backdrops! As Miss Ember is showing off, posing in wheat fields can actually make some pretty cute pictures, too, and creates a neutral backdrop with all the fall vibes that will coordinate with whatever the family is wearing without being distracting.

So simple!

Get the Pets Involved

In this pic, Tori is posing with her pup at Roloff Farms in the pumpkin patch. Hey, if this is a family photo shoot, every member of the family should be involved — including the pets. Sometimes, it's easier to leave our four-legged friends at home, but if it can be managed, a few shots with the dog are timeless and will really add something special to these pics.

Take Advantage of Golden Hour

When it comes to photography, lighting is everything, and one of the best times to take photos is golden hour: the period of the day before sunset when the sky seems to glow. Here, it created such a gorgeous effect with the red sun setting behind Audrey and Ember, giving this picture a cozy feel as they cuddle.

Wear Matching Outfits

Matching outfits aren't everybody's thing, but they sure look cute on the kids in the family! Since Tori and Zach are big Seahawks fans, it's no surprise that they opted to dress Jackson and Lilah in these matching jerseys, and in the end, it created such a cute brother-sister pic.

Never Underestimate the Power of a Red Wagon

Ember has always been a total ham in front of the camera, and we can't get enough of her in this red wagon at the apple orchard. Using props like this really make the photos pop. As we all know, kids are going to bite into those apples we're picking way before we get them home, so it makes it feel all the more authentic.

Hold a Pumpkin

Here, Tori was pregnant with Lilah, but nobody has to be expecting to make a shot like this work. Pumpkins aren't just there for show, adding them to the photos by holding them — especially handing tiny ones to the kids in the fam — can take the photos to the next level, instead of all of the shots looking too similar.

Have Fun With It

How cute are Audrey and Jeremy running through the pumpkin patch at Roloff Farms? When it comes to photo shoots, the kids don't get to have all the fun. Parents should definitely take a few fun pics like this, too. It not only makes for gorgeous photos, but also for great memories.

Action Shots

As much as we love framing posed photos for our walls, the candid photos are really valuable, too, like this one of Jackson picking apples. It's so cute to see him exploring the orchard like this, and we know Tori will never forget what her family was doing when this moment happened.

Feature the Changing Leaves

There's nothing like the orange and red colors of changing fall leaves, and while not all of us live in places where we get to experience it, those who are lucky enough to see leaves change should definitely take advantage of them for their family photos. They make such a stunning backdrop.

Sit on the Pumpkins

Sure, it's a little unconventional to use a pumpkin as a chair, but look how cute Audrey and Jeremy are doing it! This is such a cute pose, and it works for everyone in the family — kids or adults. Mixing up the poses in the classic pumpkin patch location can really make these photos sweet.

Build a Fire

Sitting around the fire just as the nights start to get chilly is one of the best parts of fall, and for families who take part in that tradition, why not include it in fall photos? The glow of the fire really makes the pictures look special, and it gives the opportunity for some cute shots of the kids roasting marshmallows.

Don't Be Afraid of Moody Vibes

If fall isn't the right time for moody photos, when is? Happy, smiling family photos are definitely where it's at, but sometimes, giving off a few moody vibes can really create gorgeous pictures that we wouldn't have had otherwise. Audrey is definitely proof of that!

Include Halloween Costumes

For families who love this particular holiday, it might be a good idea to include their Halloween costumes in a few shots after getting the pretty, more formal pics out of the way. It will mark what costumes the kids wore that year and what they were into, since it can all start to blur together after a while.

Frolic Through the Clover

Tori is too adorable here, standing in the clover and wearing her pretty dress. If apple orchards and pumpkin patches seem overdone, a field like this might just be the perfect, unique choice — not to mention that the photos come out absolutely gorgeous, as proven by this pic here.

Choose Wide Open Spaces

Sometimes, the best photo backdrop is a big, open space like the one that Tori and her family are posing in. All the focus is on them, and it's easy to find a space like this no matter where someone might live. It also serves as a blank slate for whatever outfits — and maybe even props? — might be included in the shoot.
