What to Know
After growing up as the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, there’s no doubt that Jaden Smith’s family has helped him get where he wants to be in the fashion world. But after his new fashion line debuted at Paris Fashion Week this month, he’s not exactly getting the rave reviews that he was probably hoping for. People really aren’t holding back on this!
Jaden was announced as the brand’s very first men’s creative director in 2025.
Christian Louboutin made the announcement about Jaden joining their team in September, sharing a statement from the 27-year-old in a post on Instagram.
“Merging my vision with Christian’s comes quite naturally because we see the world in a very similar way,” Jaden said at the time. “There’s a shared respect for creative freedom, and I think that’s why it works. I want to continue the story, honoring the past while shaping the future through my own perspective. It isn’t just a title — it’s a creative home. Christian has given me a place to explore, to learn, and to create freely. His legacy is built on hard work and joy, and I want to carry that forward.”
He debuted his first collection this week.
As multiple outlets including the Daily Mail have reported, Jaden showed off the products on the runway on January 21, and many of them are… interesting, to say the least.
His first collection for the designer brand includes fluffy, red faux fur shoes and boots (which retail for $2,990, mind you), along with matching furry hats and belts to complete the look. Also available to purchase online from Jaden’s collection? A $1,9990 harness bag, which is made of leather and worn like a backpack… but without the actual backpack part, of course.
His designs are being heavily criticized.
Jaden is being absolutely ripped to shreds online by people who aren’t impressed with his debut — and many of them are convinced that he only got the gig because of his nepo baby status. Some are even comparing the furry items to Elmo from Sesame Street or a red version of The Grinch’s fur.
“It’s exactly what I expected. I knew he’d ruin the brand,” one critic wrote in an Instagram comment about the collection.
“He got the job cause of his father meanwhile hardworking talented designers will never get this opportunity,” another added.
In a word? Yikes! Your move, Jaden.
