Jedidiah and Katey Duggar will soon welcome twins, becoming a family of six. Judging by a new video the couple shared, they have installed car seats ahead of the babies’ arrival. Critics, however, slammed Jedidiah and Katey Duggar for their kids’ serious car seat safety hazards.
To recap, Jed and Katey said, “I do” in April 2021 after a low-key courtship and engagement. They welcomed their first child, a son named Truett, in May 2022, followed by a daughter, Nora, in May 2023. In July 2024, Katey and Jed announced they were expecting twins, and the babies are due basically any time now.

In early January, Jed and Katey shared a video of their parenting 'hack.'
To kick off the new year, Jed and Katey posted what they thought was a light-hearted Instagram video. The clip showed Jed using an extendable grabber tool to deliver snacks to his kids. Truett and Nora, while buckled into their car seats in the third row of a vehicle, seemed thrilled.
“When you can finally parent from the front seat,” they wrote in overlain text in the video.
In the caption, they added, “At this stage, we are a big fan of any toddler life hacks 🤪.”
Critics online slammed Jedidiah and Katey Duggar for their kids' car seat safety hazards.
On Reddit, one critic claimed the infant car seats “don’t appear to be safely installed.” The commenter also slammed Katey and Jed for keeping the car seats in the vehicle before the babies were born.
“A lot of people install car seats early, which is fine … but they really should keep the car seat elsewhere and only the base in the car until it’s time to go,” the person wrote. “If you get in an accident, those seats are useless. It’s much easier and cheaper to replace a base. However since they don’t look installed correctly it’s not safe no matter what.”
Meanwhile, an Instagram user commented, “Please research safe car seat practices. There is soooooo much wrong going on here.”
Meanwhile, some were disappointed that neither of the kids' seats was rear-facing.
Other critics expressed concern that Truett and Nora were front-facing in their car seats, despite pediatricians recommending that kids remain rear-facing for as long as possible.
One Instagram user wrote, “rear face those cute babies please,” as another echoed, “Those babies should be rear facing … do better.”
On Reddit, folks shared similar sentiments, such as one who wondered, “Anyone else concerned that their daughter is not even two and forward facing???”
Someone else wrote, “Nora and Truett also need to be rear facing but clearly that’s not happening.”

Others pointed out that children shouldn't wear coats while buckled into car seats.
On Instagram, a couple of seemingly well-meaning comments informed the parents that bulky coats and car seats are not a safe combination.
“Please don’t do restraints up over coats, the padding decompresses in an accident and the harness won’t perform and hold your children in,” a follower cautioned.
A different Instagram user warned, “Take their jackets off, please! 😞 it is so dangerous!”
In late December, Katey noted that she was in her third trimester of pregnancy.
On December 29, Katey posted a video on Instagram poking fun at the struggle of picking out clothes while in the third trimester of pregnancy. “Getting dressed in the third trimester…” she wrote in overlain text on the clip, which featured sound from 2000’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Katey added in the caption, “The struggle is very real 😫😂. Can any of you moms relate??”
Hopefully, she and Jed will take the car seat safety advice to heart so everything is installed correctly before their two newest additions arrive.
