Jill Duggar’s Husband Derick Dillard Launches Totally New Career

After sharing his journey through law school in pursuit of becoming an attorney, now, Jill Duggar‘s husband, Derick Dillard, is trying something new. Eagle eyed fans on Reddit discovered that Derick has a totally new gig, and considering how dedicated he was to practicing law, it’s surprising to find out that he’s already made a switch this early in his career.

Derick shared the update on LinkedIn.

As Redditors discovered, Derick recently secured a position as an adjunct professor at John Brown University, a private Christian college in Arkansas.

The update was shared on LinkedIn earlier this month, where Derick responded to a comment revealing that he will be teaching a criminal procedure class, putting that law degree to good use.

“So John Brown University doesn’t even have a law school. Looks like they have a pre-law minor and that’s it,” one user on Reddit wrote. “I assume that means he’s teaching some undergrad version of crim pro, which is typically a class law students take in their second or third year.”

Seeing Derick become a professor also raised a few eyebrows among critics, especially in light of the fact that Jill recently began homeschooling the couple’s children again.

“So he can teach a college course but is allowing his sons to be homeschooled by his undereducated wife? Send your kids to school so Jill can get an education as well!” one person wrote.

The job likely isn’t a full time gig.

Since it’s an adjunct position, it’s probably not Derick’s full-time job right now. In fact, according to his LinkedIn, he has a couple of other things going on.

Not only is he listed as a practicing attorney at “Dillard Law,” but it also states that he became an associate at Blair Law in August — seven months after he left his position as an assistant district attorney for the state of Oklahoma.

Earlier this year, Jill shared that Derick was “on sabbatical.”

After Derick left his job with the state of Oklahoma earlier this year, Jill took to her Instagram Stories to clear up rumors that were circulating about his decision in May.

“Derick actually recently left his job of nearly 3 years (prosecuting attorney/ADA in Oklahoma) & is taking a sabbatical period for awhile working on some personal endeavors. A very welcome change of pace for all of us!!” Jill said in a since-expired Q&A.
