It couldn't have been easy for Jinger Duggar to speak out against the cult-like religious organization she grew up in as part of writing her new book, Becoming Free Indeed, and one person in her life is recognizing that. Husband Jeremy Vuolo praised Jinger for her courage in a new Instagram post, writing about how challenging this experience really was for her.
Jeremy shared a clip of one of Jinger's recent interviews.
Here, she's talking to the Daily Blast when the hosts begin complimenting her for how much courage it must have taken for her to be so open about something that involves her family and what it a personal risk it must have been.
Hearing these words, we can see Jinger tearing up and trying to maintain her composure, highlighting how true those statements must have been.
Jeremy took to his caption to talk about how much he admires her.
"Cannot tell you how proud of @jingervuolo I am," Jeremy wrote. "She’s been vulnerable, which is not natural for her. Having lived her life in the public eye, she is a naturally guarded person. Many of you know this about her. But, she’s done it anyway. Why? Because she feels compelled."
He said Jinger pushed herself to do it to help those who have also been 'hurt by spiritual leaders.'
"She knew going into this whole process that there would be hard questions. But she wanted to face them. She wanted to deal with the hardest realities of her life," he wrote. "And I can tell you, as I’ve been by her side, it hasn’t been easy. But God’s grace has been so clearly evident. I am left in awe of her eloquence, composure, and strength. She has handled difficult questions so well—bold and courageous, yet kind and merciful. Watching her has taught me much about grace."
Considering that no one in Jinger's family has spoken out about the way parents Jim Bob and Michelle's belief in the Institute in Basic Life Principles was harmful to them during their childhood, he's right — this was a big deal for her.
Jinger has come a long way.
Since Jinger grew up, married Jeremy, and moved out of her family's household — and even out of the state they live in — she seems to have changed a lot. Those changes do seem to come at a cost of some of her family relationships, but she hasn't let that stop her.
It's good to see she has her husband's support.
At a time like this, she probably needs it most, so good for Jeremy for speaking out publicly about how proud he is of her.
Now that Jinger has been willing to speak out about the IBLP, it'll be interesting to see if any of her siblings follow suit.
