What to Know
Despite the turmoil in the Middle East, including the United States’ involvement in Iran under Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth’s orders, Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump is out there masking vlogs about visiting a wildly expensive grocery store in Los Angeles. Who asked for this, you might ask? I’m still not totally sure.
Kai shared a video from her trip to Erehwon with the Secret Service on YouTube as a full-length vlog. Her idea was to buy some of the pricey items, take them back to her hotel, and try them out on-camera. For anyone else, it might be more innocent. For the granddaughter of Trump, who is a billionaire, the idea of Kai traipsing through Erehwon at such a crucial time is just not the move.
She took the Secret Service to Erehwon.
While her grandfather is sending troops her age to die in an illegal war, Kai Trump is out with Secret Service in tow on a high-end shopping spree.

This is obscene, outrageous, and utterly wrong.pic.twitter.com/9uIPu7rDXa
In Kai’s video, she talks about how expensive Erehwon is and she admits that it’s not somewhere she would usually shop. She also expresses a bit of anxiety at the wild prices, though she does add quite a few items to her basket. When she asks an employee how much official Erehwon merch is, she seems taken aback by the pricetags of more than $100, but who is she kidding?
Someone posted a clip from Kai’s Erehwon on X (formerly Twitter) and shared their disgust at her shopping trip with the Secret Service nearby.
“While her grandfather is sending troops her age to die in an illegal war, Kai Trump is out with Secret Service in tow on a high-end shopping spree,” they wrote. “This is obscene, outrageous, and utterly wrong.”
Someone replies to the X post with, “The American taxpayer is footing the bill so Massively Spoiled Barbie-Kai can have a shopping partner while she picks out perfume or face lotion that costs more than I earn in a month.”
I mean, that user isn’t wrong. In Kai’s 18-minute YouTube video, she talks about the skincare she uses and compares it to the items she finds at Erehwon before she drops some expensive Erehwon-brand products into her basket.
For her, it’s all about frivolous spending. And for most 18-year-olds, that’s totally fine.
The whole Trump family, are a bunch of grifters.

For Trump’s granddaughter, though, at a time when the country is facing so much uncertainty, Trump’s critics aren’t here to give her the benefit of the doubt. Like, at all.
“Unfortunately, Trump and his family have no idea what real life is like,” someone pointed out on X. “To live paycheck to paycheck. To need your check to survive They have always lived in a bubble of wealth and privilege. They believe they deserve it and we don’t. Why would you put any of these people in power?”
Kai Trump jokes about “going bankrupt” in the grocery store.
Kai’s lack of self-awareness continues in the video when she jokes about “going bankrupt” by spending hundreds of dollars. She claims that she isn’t used to spending a lot of money, and the idea of dropping so much on items that are clearly overpriced is a little daunting for her. Is this the part where she expects people to sigh and say, “Stars. They’re just like us”?
On YouTube, the comments aren’t much better in terms of those who are firmly against the Trump family as a whole.
Someone was quick to comment under Kai’s video with, “I love that my taxes are funding this instead of school lunches.”
Another wrote, “‘Let them eat cake’ but actually.”
