Kate Middleton is getting candid about one of the ways she goes about coping with stress. In March 2024, the Princess of Wales announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer. When she announced in January 2025 that she was in remission, she admitted that it definitely “takes time to adjust to a new normal.” Now, in a new video, Kate shed light on something that helps her feel better during the tough times in life.
In the video, Kate reflected on the ‘meaningful’ relationship she has with nature.
On April 14, Kate Middleton, 43, appeared in a video released by Kensington Palace. In the video, she spoke about why nature is so important to her. “I find it a very spiritual and very intense emotional reconnection I suppose, these environments,” Kate said.
While she acknowledged that not everyone may feel the same way, she said connecting with nature helps her during stressful times.
“Not everyone has that same relationship perhaps with nature, but it is so therefore meaningful for me as a place to balance and find a sort of sense of peace and reconnection in what is otherwise a very busy world,” she continued in the video.
There are many other benefits to spending time in nature.
Nature seems to bring Kate a sense of comfort and calm. But in the video, she went on to describe many other reasons why people might benefit from connecting with nature. She emphasized that this is especially vital for young people.
“I think it’s really important for young people to have access to nature because it’s a space where they can push themselves, they can challenge themselves, they learn leadership skills, spend time making friends and those life-long really great memories that we all hold onto,” she said.
By spending time in nature, people also learn to respect it more.
Kate also mentioned another reason why it’s important to spend time in nature. She believes that if young people cultivate a positive relationship with the natural world, they will be more dedicated to taking care of the environment.
“I think if we can do that, we’ll build up a generation who is passionate about our natural spaces and passionate about protecting them as well,” she said, per People. Kate recently visited the Lake District in the UK with a group of Scouts. She has been joint president of the Scouts since 2020, per Hello! magazine.
She praised the organization for making a big difference in young people’s lives. “What’s so fantastic about the Scouts is that the same foundation has sort of always been there, and still, despite how different the modern-day world is now, actually it still resonates with so many young people and it’s making such a massive difference to them,” she explained.
On Mother’s Day, Kate celebrated Mother Nature.
On March 30, Kate shared an unconventional message for Mother’s Day in the UK. Instead of focusing on moms in the traditional sense, she chose to focus on the Earth.
“Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary,” she wrote at the time. “This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life.”
