Kate Middleton & Prince William Will Skip Easter With the Royal Family Again This Year

Although most of us have a little wiggle room about how we spend the holidays – and who we spend them with – the same usually can’t be said for members of the royal family. They usually like to stick to tradition, but now that Easter is here, Kate Middleton and Prince William are doing their own thing. Because this is the second year in a row that they’ve skipped out on King Charles and Camilla’s celebrations, can this officially be considered a snub?

This week, People reported that Will and Kate are planning to celebrate Easter without all of the pomp and circumstance that comes with joining the rest of the royal family for church – something that was once practically a given for members of The Firm.

This time around, they’ll be celebrating at home in Norfolk instead with kids George, Charlotte, and Kate while Charles, Camilla, and the other royals attend the Easter Matins Service at Windsor Castle on Sunday.

They chose to lay low last year, too – but for a different reason.

Will and Kate didn’t turn up for church last Easter, but that was expected, considering Kate was undergoing treatment for cancer and hadn’t been seen in public for months at that point.

Now, Kate is in remission and has been appearing at royal engagements on a regular basis all month long, so what made them decide against going to church with the other royals? Whatever the reason, one royal insider has told Us Weekly that it’s no small thing for them to skip out. Are they trying to make some kind of statement?

A royal insider calls their decision to skip Easter a ‘big deal.’

“It’s royal tradition for the family to attend this together,” the source told the news outlet. “Everyone understood the family not attending last year when Kate was sick but there’s been a lot of raised eyebrows at the palace about William’s decision to skip again this year. It feels like a deliberate move and even a snub.”

It’s possible that after the ups and downs of the past year, Will and Kate are just looking forward to a quiet Easter holiday … or something bigger is going on. At this point, can the royal family handle yet another feud?
