Kate Middleton has shared an emotional message in honor of Baby Loss Awareness Week. Amid her return to public duties since announcing that she finished her chemotherapy treatment, the 42-year-old mother of three scripted a personal statement in support of those who have lost a baby. In coordination with the “Wave of Light” project — which is a global movement where people around the world light a candle to honor babies who died during pregnancy, childbirth, or infancy — Kate lit a candle of her own on October 15.

"Sending love" her message began.
“Baby Loss Awareness Week is such an important moment to support those who have experienced the devastation of baby loss,” the Princess of Wales wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“Sending love, strength and hope to anyone affected. #WaveofLight,” she concluded, signing the tweet with her initial, “C.”
Her message struck a chord with her followers.
“A truly important week to remind us all of the power of compassion and community in the face of unimaginable loss. Every voice of support matters,” one person commented. Another person also posted a message of support. “Honouring Baby Loss Awareness Week reminds us of the silent heartbreak many endure,” the person wrote. “Offering sincere love and support to those facing this profound grief is essential.”

The candle was designed with a special purpose.
The Wave of Light candle shown in Kate’s post was designed in collaboration between Plum & Ashby, UK charity Tommy’s, and author Elle Wright. According to the Plum & Ashby website, the candle comes packaged with a remembering card, which can be used to “hold precious names, dates or words of love, marks that last indefinitely.”
Kate has shown support for this cause in the past.
In 2020, Kate visited Imperial College London to learn more about its research facilities that look into miscarriages, stillbirths, and premature births, according to the Daily Mail. During her visit, she spoke with multiple families who had suffered baby loss and listened to their heartbreaking experiences.
Here's what Baby Loss Awareness Week is.
According to the Baby Loss Awareness Week website, the organization shows support by honoring families who have grieved these losses and to commemorate and recognize their lives. It also moves to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss and “drive improvements in care and support for anyone affected and in the prevention of pregnancy and baby loss.”
