Katey Duggar Slammed for Promoting ‘Scam’ MLM Products

Though some MLM – or multi-level marketing – products are very well-loved by those who use them, there are also many people who believe that the way these companies operate is a scam. Still, they can be pretty lucrative for those who already have large social media followings. Apparently, Katey Duggar has noticed, because she’s officially on the MLM train. There’s just one problem: Some of her followers (aka her customer base) aren’t impressed with her new side hustle.

Katey posted about her new favorite drink.

In the video, Katy is seen sitting on a porch swing while drinking a bottle of juice that she claimed gives her enough energy she’s started “skipping the afternoon nap” while wrangling her four kids.

“A couple weeks ago I started drinking a whole foods supplement every day. Within a few days, I started noticing I wasn’t as tired and was able to skip my naps+have more energy!” she wrote in her caption, going on to sing the drink’s praises.

“So I wanted to share my link and code so you can feel the difference too! Comment DRINK and I’ll send you a link!” she added.

Some people were interested, but others decidedly weren’t.

Katey received plenty of comments on the post asking for the drink’s link, but others were a bit skeptical of her new supplement, which is called Ningxia.

“Why are you promoting this scam?? Are you really that hard up for money??” one person commented on her post.

The drink Katey is peddling seems to be Young Living’s Ningxia Red, which is made with “wolfberry, plum, aronia, cherry, blueberry, and pomegranate juices and extracts,” according to the brand’s website. Young Living claims that the drink “increases physical energy levels, improves sleep patterns, increases time asleep, and reduces daily stress to improve mental well-being.”

Young Living has been the center of a lot of controversy in recent years.

Aside from the shady practices that seem to be present when it comes to most MLMs – which allow consultants to make money by profiting from the sales made by people who join their team – Young Living has been called into question about the validity of its products, which haven’t been approved by the Federal Drug Administration. That includes Ningxia, the drink Katey advertised on Instagram.

Back in January 2025, Jinger admitted to using Young Living’s products as a way to clean her house without using toxic chemicals.

“Years ago I switched over my general cleaning products – things that I use for all-purpose cleaner to spray down the countertops,” she said at the time. “I have glass bottles with Thieves cleaner in them. It’s a healthier version of cleaning, so it still sanitizes, cleans, disinfects, but it doesn’t have all that toxic chemical.”
