Kristin Cavallari Sparks Parenting Meltdown After Admitting Her Kids Still Sleep in Her Bed

Kristin Cavallari says one of her kids used to sleep in her bed “every single night.” Now, at age 11, his sleeping habits have changed a bit, but Kristin still lets her children sleep with her “one night a week.” The Laguna Beach alum, 38, is mom to 12-year-old Camden, 11-year-old Jaxon, and 9-year-old Saylor.

Jaxon and Saylor still like to sleep with their mom.

During a recent episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, Kristin explained that she enjoys being with her kids, but she also needs alone time sometimes. That’s why she now lets her kids sleep with her once a week if they’d like to. “When school started, I told Jaxon and Saylor: ‘You guys get one night a week with me,'” Kristin said. “We can’t do every other night, and I was finally like ‘I finally have time to myself.'”

Before, her little ones would sleep with her every other night.

And prior to that, Jaxon would actually share a bed with his mom every single night for about four years. Since Kristin’s kids are all close in age, she described “transferring” them to new beds because she didn’t want to buy a new crib each time she welcomed a child. “When Jaxon was coming, we transferred Cam into a bed that had the guard rails that were part of the bed design — so he couldn’t roll out of it,” she explained. “But there was a little spot at the end of it so he could get in and out in the morning when he needed to.”

With Saylor on the way, Jaxon was “transferred” to this bed setup. But when he realized he could get out and join his mom in bed, he started doing that every night for several years.

Some people took issue with Kristin’s parenting.

According to one critic, “It’s not a good idea to let your kids sleep in bed for that many years.” Others pointed out some concerns they had, while also acknowledging that there’s nothing inherently wrong with Kristin’s co-sleeping arrangement. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong about this except it seems like a quick way to get your kids bullied at school,” another person pointed out on Reddit.

However, many others defended Kristin’s parenting. “I really appreciate her saying this and normalizing it,” someone else said. “In many parts of the world, entire families sleep in the same bed or room. Many people like the comfort of sleeping near another person. We don’t need to make everything weird.”

Another person added, “We do the same, when my kids feel like they need to. ❤️ They’re only kids for so long, and if they need to sleep in my bed at 30, I’ll let them then, too.”
