Lauren Boebert Showed Up to Congress in What People Are Calling a ‘Club Dress’

Congress might not be a fashion show, but for those who oppose Rep. Lauren Boebert, it’s easy to poke fun at her clothing choices. So when someone shared a picture of her on the steps of Congress in a post on X (formerly Twitter), it was a chance for other users to make some jokes at her expense. Hey, all is fair in love and war, and since the United States involved itself in a war, well…

Boebert’s dress, according to the post, looks like it came hot off the rack among dresses meant for the club rather than work for the U.S. government. Some users even compared it to something that Boebert might have found at Forever 21 at the mall. Mostly, though, they’re trying to figure out if she really did try to intentionally pass off her club dress as a work-appropriate outfit choice.

There’s no disguising her “club dress.”

Wherever Boebert got the dress, which she paired with a white button-up and shiny pumps, it probably wasn’t meant to be worn in a place of business, much less one where decisions are made that affect the United States as a whole. In fact, the exact same dress is for sale online, and the listing does not include any variation of the dress to make it business casual.

According to the listing for the dress, “Crafted from high-quality leather, it offers a smooth, polished look that stands out. The front zip adds a modern edge and allows for easy wear, making it a versatile choice for both day and night occasions.” OK, so it does mention going from day to night with this dress. But that doesn’t mean people aren’t dogging Boebert for her club dress at work.

“I’ve always had a thing for trashy white women, so…yeah. Her dress is appropriate for a funeral in my opinion,” someone wrote on X.

Another person joked, “I would argue this level of nonsense is perfectly on brand! She’s dressed for the occasion (screwing us all).”

“This is how I dressed at my first office job until a nice lady told me I *really* needed a wardrobe specifically for work,” someone else commented on the X post.

And, the icing on the cake. An X user wrote that “that’s how it was on the mannequin in Forever 21.”

But Congress isn’t always taken seriously anyway.

Republicans hold the majority of seats in Congress, thanks to Trump during his second term in the White House. That means they can control much of what happens, and they seem to refuse to push back on what Trump wants. So, in a way, Congress is pretty ineffective as a way to make big changes in the country.

So Boebert’s wardrobe choices might not even be Congress’s biggest issue right now anyway. Then, there is the matter of the Congresswoman making anti-LGBTQ+ comments about children and about “litter boxes” in schools for children who identify as cats. Her controversies already made her something of a joke to those who already had a hard time supporting her. So the leather club dress just adds fuel to the fire.

Some people compared her to Sen. John Fetterman.

Boebert is not the first person in Congress to show up to work in an outfit that looks like she forgot to change before heading out to work. In her case, it’s a dress that she might have worn out the night before. But then there’s Sen. John Fetterman, who became known for his basketball shorts and hoodies. So much so that he wore a similar outfit when Trump was sworn in for his second term, per ABC New York.

One user joked on X that Fetterman often looks “like the divorced dad who never left hometown.”

Another wrote, “John Fetterman wears a hoodie and shorts. I don’t love Boebert by any means but at least she acknowledges that she’s not just lounging on her couch.”

And, to Boebert’s credit apparently, a user added, “This is somehow less offensive than John Fetterman’s hoodies.”
